This Jebao CF-10 pressure filter come with an intergrated 13 watt UVC, back wash facility, cleaning inddicator and a UVC viewing window. If you have a nature pond with plants, this filter clean up to 1500 gallon pond. If you have a gold fish pond with some plants, this filter clean up to 1000 gallon pond. If you have a koi pond or large fish, this filter clean up to 500 gallon pond. HOW DOES IT WORK? STAGE 1 - MECHANICAL FILTRATION: Water is pumped into the filter creating the necessary pressure to begin the mechanical filtration stage. Two foam discs collect various sizes of unwanted organic debris encouraging the growth of large numbers of beneficial bacteria which break down harmful pollutants. STAGE 2 - BIOLOGICAL FILTRATION: At this stage the water passes through the bio-balls at the bottom of the filter. These have a large surface area & provide a habitat for beneficial bacteria to grow which naturally convert the harmful toxins of ammonia & nitrites into useful nitrates to support a healthy pond environment. STAGE 3 - UV CLARIFICATION: The water which may contain microscopic suspended algae spores passes the UV lamp clumping and killing the spores to give crystal clear water. WHY This External Pond UV Bio-Filter SO EFFECTIVE? Water is slowed down as it passes the lamp to increase UV penetration Quartz glass tube covering the UV lamp permits effective penetration of UV rays. Ordinary glass cuts this by 90% UV lamp runs at optimum operating temperature in an enclosed chamber Water is kept as close as possible to the UV lamp to maximize UV efficiency Single ended lamps last longer and have higher UV output

Best I've used
Not sure why but pond filter systems just don't last very long and typically leak where it seems like they shouldn't. This is no exception EXCEPT while it does work, it does it very well. I have purchased three of these. One died totally, one leaks a lot and the other works perfectly. Even the one that leaks keeps the pond in good shape. I have just set it up so it leaks into the pond so it is not a huge problem However, why can't pond filters be designed to actually work as they should? Can't some company do that?

Works pretty well so far on my 250 gallon garden pond
Works pretty well so far on my 250 gallon garden pond. Only complaint I really have is I wish it would have came with some instructions for dummies like myself. Tore it apart two or three times trying to fix a leak before I figured out where you connect your hose to slides back and forth so you can clean out your pond without having to move any hoses

Cheap.
Basically this is 2 to 3 years of use if you are lucky. They usually run around $80. A good name brand one will cost you $200 to $300. Doing the math and taking all ratings into account I'm better off buying the cheap one. When one goes bad for whatever reason I use it for parts. While it is working it's actually pretty good.

From green to crystal clear..
My pond was green, so green you couldn't see thro it. I would have to change the water every week to be able to have somewhat clear water in my pond for a couple days until I hooked up this filter. I changed the water and it has maintained it.. I have crystal clear water.. I walk out to feed the fish and literally awww over my pond now. It's been 100degrees out, it's rained and it's stayed clear!! Now I will be able to see my baby fish!!! If you have a pond this is a must have. I have it connected to another filter in the water to help filter the solids the fish drop!!

Works great out of the box. But wait...
Out of the box this filter works great, it clears the water within the first hour. We are running a 300gph pump with this. Our water was very cloudy and we had tried many things with no help. We only have a 300 gal Pond, well 2 of them, we liked this so well we bought a second one for the other pond. within 24 hours we could see clearly in both ponds. back flushing seemed to work ok, ive never seen any system so far back flush perfect. it only lasted about a month and the indicator showed it needed done again. so we decided to clean the filters as the first time it showed needed cleaning was nearly 3 months, now it only went 1 month. the large main "O" ring was such a pain to get resealed, it leaked no matter what we tried. a little water running down we thought was no big deal as we worked on it for 3 hours. again it indicated that a cleaning was needed in 1 month, we toke it apart and realized it didnt seem that dirty, putting it back together one of the clamps broke off. she thought it was something she did so we bought another one to replace. we have had the same problems with the other 2, in fact one of the plastic clamps broke off during the night while it was running, emptying the pond and killing fish for lack of air. The other main pain with this pump is getting the bio balls in correctly to get it to seat properly. but works great out of the box. but all down hill from there i'm afraid. one of the filters we had to unscrew the indicator to clean it as it wouldn't go back down to show clean, and it leaked from that point on, yes there "O" ring was there and i even used plumbers tape to try and get it to seal with no luck.

Extremely effective, great price, simple to install!
Got the 13 watt version of this and installed it on a 350 gallon IBC tank based system last night and my water was finally clear enough for the first time that I could see clear to the bottom of the tank. As with all Jebao products, their instructions are limited and contain broken English. However, considering that this isn't a high-tech product and the unit itself is clearly labeled, anybody can install it correctly without even needing instructions. Even though it will work with tubing down to 1/2", you really need at least 1" between your pump and the input connection and preferably as well on your output. As the product name says, this is a pressure filter, you won't be able to deliver enough pressure to force your water through it if you are using small diameter tubing. Cleaning is a breeze, just press the gray lever over to the "clean" position to back-flush it until the water runs clear coming out of it. Then press the other gray level to put it back into operation mode.

Broke in a month, but fixable
As someone else said the tabs that hold it together are weak. I had just noticed the filter was in the red (a shelter dog actually got in the pond and disturbed the algae, causing it to quickly clog up). By the time I started walking to it, Bam! and two of the locking tabs broke and water poured everywhere. Not to completely junk it a went to the local home depot to figure out a fix. I ended up drilling a 3/16" hole right next to each of the tabs, on the outer most part where it angles down. I was able to take 3" long 10-24 ring bolts with fender washers and wingnuts to clamp it back together. Works fine now. Just takes a little more time to disassemble, but other wise you get what you pay for.

Lasts 1 year
After 1 year it leaks like crazy, there's no way to fix it at all. It's been a horrible nightmare to clean and I'm very disappointed that I now have to buy another filter so soon.

Finally clear pond water!
Works fabulously and was very easy to install. Designed to be installed below ground if you want low profile. Cleared the murky water up in days. Only concern is I cannot budge the clean out lever but have not had to clean it yet so time will tell if this is a problem. I hooked it up to the waterfall unit I ordered here and that works great and the fish love to play in the water fall.

Does the job
I am very pleased with this product, the initial one had a faulty bulb but have had this running for over a month and can still see our fish ( usually after cleaning wouldn’t see the fish after four days) filters are easy to clean , of which we have just done as we have had lots of sunshine. For the price I would recommend this item.

Works better than expected
My fish pond was turning very green so I ordered this as well as some treatment liquid. Within a day the water was clear and the fish seem happy. I will be returning the liquid to that save me $40. You will need a decent pump to go with this unit

Works as advertised!
When I ordered this filter my pond was a dark green and I couldn't see the bottom of my pool. With in 2 weeks my pond was perfectly clear. Don't expect it to clear your pond in a couple of days give it time to work. Love the discharge for cleaning the filter also. Would definitely recommend this product. PS. My fittings did not leak as stated by other reviews.
