Half Handyman

I originally wanted to hire a handyman to install the lightings, however, the estimate of cost was too high. I decided to try and do the job myself which turned into a huge challenge of trying to get the screws and adapter plate mounted properly. I decided to cut some of the screws to make them fit into the housing that consisted of a vinyl shield put in place to protect the wiring. However, this left a opening as the fixture did not fit snug against the vinyl shield. Eventually, I measured and marked the two holes and punctured holes to accommodate the screws, then used wood screws that allowed the fixture to tighten against the wall without any damages to the wiring. I could not used the decorative nuts to cover the back of the wood screws. I was not able to use the adapter plates where the vinyl shield was present. However, I finally learned how to properly match the screws to adapter plates to fit correctly with the wiring box without the presence of a vinyl shield blocking the way. Bottom line, I saved a couple of hundred dollars, seemingly wasted a lot of time and effort when nervously trying to figure out how to install the fixtures, but, gained a wealth of knowledge in finding out how to use adapter plates and the work around when vinyl shields are in place to cover the wiring. Overall, I am very satisfied to have installed the Kichler Lighting for a U-Do-It project and stand prepared to help others the needed.

Needs a second mounting bracket that attaches to a standard 2x3 wall box.

When light arrived it had missing (2) caps that secured to wall....evidently the light had been returned and resold without inspection for missing parts....the reason for the return was probably that the supplied bracket that screws to the electrical box only works on a squared light box (or with no box at all attaching to building siding with just electrical wire) my application attached to a rectangle wall box 2x3 (that normally is used for the standard 2 plug wall outlet) ....I had to drill and tap an extra bracket to mount lights to the brick wall of my house.

Good, small light

This is a good looking light, a little better looking than this website's image. This light is very small and should be strongly considered if a person is in need of such. Kichler uses quality materials with good construction and this is true with this particular light. The installation is very easy. I don't normally type this but it is important to a novice installer; please secure (turn off) your circuit breaker for your work area to prevent electrical shock and possible property damage and this applies to all electrical work- sorry to those who already practice this safety precaution. I do recommend this light to those in need of a small light.

good looking, cheap feeling

I like the way this fixture looks on my front porch. I don't like how cheap it seems to be. It is made out of super lightweight crap metal that almost feels like plastic. I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect it's not going to age very well on the exterior of my house. Still gets 4 stars because I like the way it looks, a lot. Update: I liked the first fixture for the front porch enough to buy another one for my side entry... the second one was a re-pack for sure and not a very good one. There was touch up paint all over it and two of the small acorn nuts holding the glass pieces in place, were missing, along with some of the install hardware). I figured out a way to "make it work," but was pretty disappointed in the crappy repack. I should have gotten a "used" price for this, or better yet, the jerk that returned it with scratches and missing pieces should NOT have gotten their money back. Three stars still, cuz at the end of the day I still like the looks of this light

Light fixture

I like the style and color of the fixture. It takes a 100 watt bulb which I like. I don't understand what the 17 inch that I ordered represents. I thought it would be bigger than it is. If you had a bigger one, I would have ordered that.

Great lighting for a great price!

These are so beautiful. They light up the porch and steps very nice. Well worth the money! They look great on our log home.
