Buy one! It can pay for itself on the first job!
For $65, it is crazy not to buy this magnet set. Strength wise it is very comparable to the Magnepull that costs twice as much. I have tested this in the shop and showed it to some of our electricians. My experiences come from the Magnepull but should translate directly to this Klein tool. For simple wood studs with one layer of drywall and no insulation, it is a simple process. Drill a hole at the top of the wall, drop the leader down and find it with the magnet handle. You can easily pull it down to your box location below. If there is insulation in the wall, move the magnet handle in short up and down shimmy motions and it will pull through fine. With double layer rock there isn't as much magnetism but in an uninsulated wall should work fine. If you are going from an attic to a basement, drill your top and bottom holes, drop a jack chain down the wall and shove the magnetic leader up the hole to catch it. It does work great in commercial metal stud environments. That is where I mainly used it. It is awesome for finding studs. If you are careful, it will also find buried metal boxes (you'll feel magnetism at the start of the plaster ring, then a dead spot, then magnetism for the other side of the ring). If you are fishing down the walls, just pay attention to where your studs are. Make your top hole in the middle of the stud space and pull straight down. Once you are closer to the box you can make a turn and exit the wall. That will limit your changes of it catching on a stud. This is an amazing tool and the price point is exceptional.

Make Wiring Easier with Klein Tools Magnetic Wire Puller!
If you're a DIY enthusiast or a professional electrician, the Klein Tools Magnetic Wire Puller is an essential tool to have in your arsenal. This tool makes it easy to fish and pull wire cable behind walls or tight spaces, saving you time and effort. The magnetic tip is strong enough to hold onto metal objects, which makes it easy to navigate the cable through narrow passages. The compact size and lightweight design make it easy to handle, and the durable construction ensures that it will last for years to come. The wire puller is also versatile, and can be used for a variety of applications, including electrical, plumbing, and more. I also appreciate that the wire puller is easy to clean and maintain, which is important for any tool that gets used frequently. Overall, I'm really impressed with the Klein Tools Magnetic Wire Puller and would definitely recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable and efficient wire pulling tool. It's a game-changer! 9 out of 10, would pull again.

Worth it
This is a little more money than what some other ones are online. But it is Klein and it is great. Magnet is super strong and the case is nice

Great product but could not use it
Wanted to fish wires without cutting dry wall here and there but couldnt use this product for my purpose. The magnet is very strong, will pull across the dry wall all fine but not very useful. Once it stuck inside drywall because there was some iron stuff around it and I actually had to cut the wall to take it out as it got stuck there. The only use I had it as one way magnet to know where the metal stuff is there hiding in the construction so that I can avoid trying to do something there but it has nothing to do with wire puller. The fish head is thick enough and you cannot pass it through a drill hole big enough for 12 gauge wire.

Not for commercial framing with metal studs
I was very optimistic about this and it was cheaper than the other brand so I figured I’d give it a go. The first job I used it on was a commercial job and since the probe that goes in the wall is magnetic (not just metal) it immediately stuck to the steel stud and I couldn’t drag it down the wall. That seems like a great product for wood framing but since the probe and the part that goes on the outside of the wall are both magnetic, this is a no go for commercial installs. If just the part that stays on the outside of the wall was magnetic, and the probe was steel, it seems it would work better.

Works like a charm through insulated plaster walls
I was on the verge of calling in a handyman to do this work, but I saw this and the strong magnets worked like a charm! I now have a way to pull TV cables through the plaster wall without needing to cut open the wall. Much cheaper than getting help!

Good idea but not good enough, save your money
I never wright reviews but save your money on this. Not strong enough to pull through single or double board, plus new build walls are made of metal stud and seeing as both parts are magnets all it wants to do is ping over to the metal upright in wall. Cheaper to do the old fashion way of using a length of MT2 lid and fishing it down or over.

Not strong enough
Not strong enough to get through single sheet plasterboard. Catches the screws too.
