It works great for about 5 years, so be prepared to replace it.

I am on my second unit. The first lasted 5 years before it failed with an error 4 code (motherboard failure). I didn't know when I purchased it, that it is common knowledge among professionals that these units have a 4 to 7 year lifespan. So, as long as you install it in a way that allows you to quickly swap it out and are willing to spend $100+ a year (5yrs / $550) for the coolness factor, you will be satisfied.

WARNING - This is NOT a DTV+ Compatible Valve

The valve I received was not the one advertised here. This valve was factory sealed and shipped directly from Kohler; however, the box was originally labeled DTV-528-PM-NA and then relabeled K-528-K1-NA-DTV+. I purchased the same valve from another retailer incase there was an issue there, but received exactly the same mislabeled product. When connected to my DTV+ system, it is not recognized. When I contacted Kohler, they sent me an $18 cable claiming that was the only difference between the DTV-528-PM-NA and the K-528-K1-NA-DTV+ (in spite of the $200 price difference between the units). As expected, this did not resolve the problem. Kohler customer service for DTV products is only M-F from 8-5 and even then is not knowledgeable enough to assist.

The Coolest Addition to our Bathroom Renovation

Awesome! Very special addition to our bathroom renovation. My brother installed it easily. Coupled with 2 KOHLER K-527-1CP DTV Prompt Digital Shower controls (one outside the shower, one inside) you are never guessing about water temperature. One issue worth noting: If you have a power failure and you don't have a generator, your shower won't work at all.

BEWARE: Amazon sends units that have been previously open/used!

Completely unacceptable. And then wont give a discount for false advertisement. I dont have time to “return it and wait for a new one” to come. Walls are open and this needs to be installed to meet a deadline.

It was simple to set up. Be aware that the cost of replacing it is the same as the cost of the entire unit. For the time being, I'm very impressed with its features and concept. Only time will tell how well it will hold up.
