Fun But Not Great For Patterns
I ordered this rainbow sorting set to practice with my 4 year old. She was instantly attracted to the rainbow and began sorting the pieces into their matching colored slots. The rainbow design is very fun and attractive to young children. The rainbow is made of a nice, sturdy plastic. The cloud parts have a bendable blue lid that is easily removed and attached to the frame. This provides a convenient storage spot for the pieces. The small shapes are made of a softer, rubbery material that makes them easy to pickup with the yellow tweezers. They come in the shapes of a sun, star, cloud, lightning bolt, and moon. Your set will have one of each shape in each color for a total of 30 shapes. Keep in mind that these options only allow you to create patterns by color and not by shape. For example, you could not do a pattern of red sun, red moon, red sun, red moon because you only have one red sun and one red moon. I do feel this limits the potential of the set for this need. Included is an activity guide that provides several ideas for how to use the set. This is a big help. It also details how to use the 5 double sided cards to work with your child. Overall, this is a fun activity set for learning to sort and identify objects but lack the pieces to teach more complex patterns.

Fun and great for sorting
My 27 month old loves playing with this. The pieces are super bright and the rainbow is really cute. I think the little paper instructions will be better to use once she gets to three. The only thing that was frustrating was the tweezers because they were really hard to squeeze to pick up the pieces. I did some bending and eventually got them easier to use, but would be better to not have to do that.

LOVE
Learning resources is one of my favorite brands. Besides educational, they are always fun to play with and have multiple uses. When I used to be an early childhood educator, this was my number one brand to get. Now, as a mom, I try to get as much from Learning resources. Right now, my son second favorite color is rainbow so I decided to get this for him. The set comes with 5 double sided cards. At first I thought it wasn't enough. But then I read the paper it came with (when you open it, it's a rainbow and you can match the shapes) and it has more activity ideas. The cards are that also, just ideas or for you to get more creative. The shapes aren't hard. Like the box says 3+ because they are choking hazard. The only complaint would be the tongs being tk hard to pinch/use. Maybe my toddler needs more practice with his fine motor skills or I need to use it more so it can be easier to use. So I didn't remove a star for that because some kids might be better with their fine motor skills. It's been more than 30 minutes and my son is still playing with them!

Good for fine motor movement
There are 30 small very colorful objects to sort according to design, color, or number. The is an included yellow tong tool to pick them up with. The objects are about 0.5 inches or less. There are 5 pre- printed cards about 2.75 by 2 inches to match or sort the objects on. There are 6 plastic rainbow “ grooves” in which to lay the objects. There is an included activity guide which is quite helpful. The learning activities are many with this set, but the small pieces can not be used with very small children. This is an excellent set for one-on-one teaching or for individual use.

Really fun activity!
I got this to have when my 6 year old son’s younger cousins visit - but he has had a blast with it! I’d say it would be ideal for 3-5, but my 6 year old has played with it a lot, making up his own games and patterns. Great quality and I love that it is self contained, the pieces can be stored with it so they don’t get lost. Highly recommend!

What a fun learning tool!
I am such a big fan of the Learning Resources brand and this product did not disappoint! It’s so simple, but provides so many different aspects for expanding learning. I love that the shapes are all weather themed. In addition to color and shape sorting, the included activity cards are great for sparking more ideas on how you can use it. I love that all the pieces fit inside the two clouds on the ends for easy storage between uses. I decided to keep the original box for long term storage because it will keep it better protected and better allow me to stack things on top of it. Overall, I’m very happy with this latest addition from one of my favorite brands!

Good quality- great for multiple skills
This is obviously a great toy for fine motor work, but I can’t believe the versatility it has. The quality is excellent (as expected- I find that almost all LR items are.) My little one has significantly speech delays and this offers a lot of opportunities to work on his speech sounds without him realizing it. The tweezers are easy for my 3.5yo and 7yo to handle! We’ve only played with it for two days and we’ve worked on at LEAST all of the following: sorting, fine motor, speech/vocabulary, patterns, addition & subtraction. We also had a little lesson on science with rainbows and thunderstorms included! (And more important- the kids just PLAYED & had fun while all that learning happened indirectly.)

Wonderful tool for practicing colors, shapes and more!
To say my kids LOVE this would be an understatement. My three year old son has been using it to continue to solidify his understanding of grouping by color and shape and now has begun to place things in order when prompted. This product comes with little cards that have simple prompts for my son to understand and follow along on his own without my help! My almost two year old daughter has begun to sort by color because of this product! We are also starting to work on shapes with her and she is getting the hang of it quickly!

great
A great way to help children learn about colors and shapes while also improving their fine motor skills is to have them use tweezers to pick up various shapes. Additionally, you can give them tasks that are written on small clouds. The best part is that all of the pieces can easily be stored on the sides of the clouds.

Educational and fun
My three year old grandson loves playing with this he is learning while having fun we are just in the process of learning him his colours so this is helping with that and he loves anything that uses his motor skills. It’s bright and colourful and easy to store away. I think it would make a lovely gift for a birthday a really nice educational toy.

Rainbow Sorter
Really love this. It is super bright, colourful and engaging and my little one is getting to grips with using his hand, eye coordination to sort through his rainbow sorting. You can use it for hand eye coordination but you can also use it simply for pattern and colour identification as well as basic numeracy skills. I love that it is all compact and nicely put away under the clouds so you can keep it nice and tidy. Fun and even I enjoy playing with this!
