It works, and it's orange.

Use this to charge my Tesla in my new house. A 6-20 outlet provides 14 miles per hour of charging, which is enough for me, especially with a little planning. I matched this with a matching cover plate. The orange color makes it stand out from a normal outlet, so people will be alert if they try to plug in a 120 volt device. Make a nice, solid connection to the charger.

Expect more for the price

I don't write many reviews, but want to warn people about this. This is an expensive outlet - I paid for the gray color. Similar outlet is available for 1/3 the price in white or other colors. If you like to backstab outlets and just poke the wire through the hole in the back, maybe these outlets are OK. I prefer to wrap the wire around the screw and tighten for a secure connection. Maybe if I had longer wire leads coming from the wall this would have been ok, but I didn't. The screws flop around once loosened and will not stay extended, so trying to get a wire around them when working with a short lead was VERY difficult I had to use a small screwdriver to try to hold the screw out with one hand while I tried to get the wire under the screw with the other. You also cannot take the screws all the way out as they won't be able to re-engage with the nut inside to tighten once there is a wire around the screw. What should have been a 2 minute project turned into 15 minutes fighting with the screws.

It's a electrical socket - it just works

Not the cheapest 240v 20A socket I could find online, but you can't beat the convenience of Amazon Prime delivery. Probably would have cost me more in gas to drive to the local hardware store to purchase, assuming I could find receptacle the brown. Installation was easy - just be sure to turn off power before working on electrical wiring.

High quality, but challenging to install with thick wire gauge required for current level

Used mine for installing a level 2 EV charger. High quality plastic plus the color helps indicate appropriate caution when using. My only issue is that for the current level of the outlet thick gauge wire is required that is very challenging to anchor via the small screws that seem no larger that lower current outlets.

Great plug for 240 V @ 20 A

I used this for my electric car charger. It works perfectly. 240V @ 20 amps used every day for hours. No problems. Use 12/2 wire minimally.

Using it for Level 2 charger.

Using it for Level 2 charger for our Volt. Together with all our electricity coming over the PECO wires 100% from renewable sources, our low hydrocarbon emission Volt means we are driving almost all the time on renewable energy from solar and wind. Not off years into the future. Today. Using it a lot, and it is holding up nicely.
