No more busted pipes. Just peace of mind.
After a busted HW heater inlet pipe, my electrician suggested I get a heat tape. So easy to install and use. Never worry again, even if power goes out. They take so little energy, they will run off of a solar battery bank. So much cheaper than a repair bill AND peace of mind.

Seems to work fine.
Bought to use for our RV supply hose on a cold night. Seemed to work and the hose didn’t freeze. Price was great and I simply taped it to the hose with electrical tape.

Description on Amazon does not match product sent!
I'm sure this heat cable would work fine, but I specifically bought this one because the description says "wrap around application". The instructions with the heat cable they sent says NOT to wrap around a pipe. I was very disappointed. I sent it back.

Keeps pipes from freezing.
This is just what I needed to make sure the water lines in my well house don't freeze up during the winter. It's easy to install, just wrap around the pipes and plug in. I wrapped mine with fiberglass insulation to help keep the heat in. Since the thermostat senses the air temperature and only turns on when needed, it will save a sum of money in electricity over having a heat lamp on 24 hours a day. The cable is well made and should last several years.

The package isn't that useful for telling you this
Make sure that get the right length. I even called the manufacturer for guidance... if you plan to wrap a 10 foot, 3-4" dia. pipe with it, you'll want at least the 18 foot model... not this one... The package isn't that useful for telling you this. Also, I only need this for when temps get below, say, 15 deg for extended periods of more than a few days... this starts warming at 38 degs F, which is a bit of a waste of electricity. So for the lack of guidance for various other pipe dimensions and for the lack of flexibility in adjusting the temperature.... I took off 2 stars.

Saved me a lot of trouble!
Worked like a champ. This year, I finally got around to wrapping my exposed pipes with heat tape. The last time we hit 17°, there were two burst pipes (one copper). This time, a slight slow down in water flow for about 2 seconds and normal flow after that! I just need to do a couple more sections and I will be 100% protected. Great product: It is low wattage, has a built in thermostat, and is easy to install. Also, you can see the little thermostat lights at night when they are on. No need to go under the house to check them!
