For very narrow ear canals only
To the one struggling to decide which ear plugs to get, I hope this helps. I spent hours, if not days, researching ear plugs on Amazon. I ended up with 8 different ones because, well, I’m indecisive. Many of these didn’t work for me due to my own weird ear anatomy but I wanted to give my experience with each and what I’d recommend given your situation. Everything is subjective, but I hope this helps someone else as the previous reviews helped me. I’ll put my quick summary first and the details after for those wanting more info. *The pink ear plug is an average run-of-the-mill ear plug for size comparison. To summarize: If you have shorter ear canals and more sensitive ears I would recommend Mack’s Thermafit, adult/kids silicone ear plugs, or Hearos Softstar foam. If you have average ear canals and want the most noise blocking I would get Howard Leight. If you prefer contoured earplugs and find them to be the most comfortable then get Flents Protech Contour. If you have very narrow (but not short) ear canals, then get Mack’s slim fit or Flents Protech Sleeping. White Hearos Softstar foam: These ear plugs are wider than most but shorter and the foam is very soft. They are comfortable and didn’t hurt my ears, even when laying on my side. The foam is so light and fluffy though it lets in more noise than other ear plugs. If comfort is most important to you, you’re a side sleeper, and you don’t need complete silence, these are for you. Tan Mack’s Thermafit: This was the last pack of ear plugs I ordered to try and I finally found the right ones for me. The foam expands more quickly and is a bit rougher texture than others but once you get it in your ear it is just as comfortable at the Hearos and blocks as much (if not more) noise as Howard Leights and silicone. If you have short ear canals, want something comfortable that blocks out the most noise, try Mack’s thermafit. Purple Mack’s Slim fit: I have somewhat smaller ear canals but these were too narrow for me. They didn’t block any sound and despite them being thin, they are still long. If you have very narrow ear canals that are an average length, these would be a good choice for you. Dark Green Howard Leight low pressure: Howard Leights are soft and I found that they blocked out the most sound out of all the ear plugs I tried. They are a bit long for my ears but I just have short ear canals. If you have average ear canals and want the most noise blocking ear plugs, I would recommend these. Light Green Flents Protech Contour: I like contour ear plugs because my ears are sensitive. These are pretty large ear plugs and not the best for those with small ears. They were the best price of all the earplugs I tried. If you have average-larger ear canals, are a side sleeper, or prefer contoured ear plugs, these are for you. Blue/White Flents Protech Sleeping: I thought these would be my Goldilocks ear plugs after I liked the regular Protech contour ones but found them to be too big. Well these were way too small. They fit in my ears easily but don’t block any noise, much like the slimfits. I can still hear the clock ticking, the traffic, my dog snoring everything. I’m so bummed! If you have tiny (and I mean tiny) ears and like the contoured foam, I would get these. Mack’s silicone ear plugs (orange kids and clear regular): As someone who generally hates having things deep in my ears, silicone ear plugs sounded like the way to go. I found the clear ones to be huge and I was having to cut them in half so I ended up getting the kids size. They are comfortable and are good for side sleeping. They also block out a lot of noise. My issue with these is that they tend to suction to your ear which is uncomfortable and you can hear your heart beating in your ears. I think it’s something you can get use to though. If you hate foam/regular ear plugs, have small or sensitive ears, and want to still block a lot of noise, I’d try these. Of all the ones I tried, I found Mack’s Theramfit to be the best all around. Happy sleeping!

Anxiety helper for bad neighbors
I have neighbors who always have a ton of screaming kids over, parties, a music studio in their garage with drums...and if it weren't for these, I would probably have to move. PLEASE never stop selling them. They drown out the majority of noises. I have to wear them basically all day and night. For anyone complaining, you're either pushing them in too far, not inserting correctly, or bought the wrong earplugs for your ear canal type.

Worked Great In My Situation
I live in an apartment with neighbors above and beside me. There is little in the way of sound deadening built into the walls and ceilings. My neighbors are generally considerate about the noise, but I am 71 years old, go to bed at 8:30. I bought earplugs at the local big box hardware, construction type earplugs, but they were too large, and didn't eliminate the sound well. I tried these Mack's Slim Fit earplugs last night, they fit much better, are easier to insert, and most importantly, they do a better job of eliminating the sound. Noticeably a better job of sound deadening. Can highly recommend these earplugs!

Fav for sleeping
These have been a long time favorite of mine for sleeping. I have narrow and short ear canals and tiny ears. These fit the best out of all I've tried.

My ears are so happy!
I need earplugs because I travel for work. I used to have sore ear canals after wearing normal foam earplugs. These purple Mack's are so comfortable!

Too small to block out loud noise.
The entrance of my ears are too small to use the Apple ear pods, so maybe I have a narrow ear canal. These are comfortable, and good for sleep or light noises, but I’m ordering the original and maximum because these are too light.

Fit my very small ear canals
I work in a semi-loud distribution building. The conveyors can be loud on top of daily noise from co-workers and the activity around me. “Average” size ear plugs fell out and didn’t work. These small ear plugs slide right in. They cut out a lot of noise yet allow me to hear enough so that I’d know if a fire alarm were going off or a co-worker stops to chat for a moment. Good product for small ear canals!!!!

Very soft but personally way too small
I'm a tiny woman with tiny ears but apparently not tiny enough because these ear plugs are way too small for me. They're really nice and soft and squishy but they truly are itty bitty, they don't expand enough to conform to my ear canal to block out any sound. They would be a good size for children. Unfortunately I'm not a child and now I'm stuck with a box of 50 ear plugs I can't use....meh. Live and learn I guess.

Only plugs I'll use
My husband likes to watch TV in bed, I like absolute silence to sleep. Rather than separate bedrooms or divorce I opted for a sleep mask (see my other reviews) and earplugs. I have narrow ear canals (dainty, ain't I?) so all other plugs have left my ears sore by morning. Not these! They're slender and the noise canceling is great.

Recomendo MUITO!

Love These: Use Them Every Night
My husband and I have tried a number of different earplugs to try to block out each other's snoring. (Or rather, my gentle breathing noises and his horrific snort-snuffles.) These earplugs are the best we've tried -- it's the slim fit. They are so much more comfortable. I doubt it's because we have particularly delicate and slender ear canals as that's not true of any other parts of our bodies.

Good for small ears, stays put. Does not block 100% of sounds
These work great for my small ears, they fit, do not hurt, and stay in all night. Not complete noise cancellation which is good for hearing alarm but if you need complete silence to sleep these won't work for you. I just need my husband's snoring to be quieter and I can sleep just fine so these work for me. Kind of expensive since I have to use them every night and I do not reuse due to cleanliness.

Sometimes things just don't fit
These were originally purchased for a friend, but their ear canals were too short/small for these to remain within their ears at night to block out noise. I started using them as an alternative to wearing noise cancelling ear buds & headphones (which started causing neck issues) at night to drown out city noises. Unfortunately, I discovered quickly that I could not re-use a single set at all - without discomfort, despite the packages advice that they could be reused. Then I discovered that I couldn't wear them for more than 2-3 days in a row without my ears getting irritated. This seemed weird to me, since when I worked in the US military and had to wear the super cheap ear plugs they provided while our ship was in the yards & I had no real issues with those, except that my ears got sore after wearing them all week - I assumed due to the large size. But, these slim ones seem to have their own issues. I am guessing that it is a material-sensitivity issue, so I may try some sensitive ear types next. I would advise getting a smaller pack to test for a bit before buying the bulk pack.
