Features * Durable, lightweight fabric prevents down feathers from escaping * 800 fill power goose down for maximum warmth; certified/guaranteed minimum fill * Zippered hand pockets * Entire jacket packs into pocket * Wind flap behind front zipper protects against drafts * Elastic draw cord hem for adjustability in serious weather * Angel-Wing Movement allows full range of motion without jacket riding up Marmot Down Marmot often says that "down is in our DNA." The company was founded in 1974 as a manufacturer and seller of premium down jackets, vests, and sleeping bags, and continues to use fine quality goose down for its insulated outdoor products. Mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts the world over rely on Marmot down gear for warmth, comfort, and sometimes survival. Down quality is determined by fill power and durability, which is dependent upon the age and maturity of the bird and the processing of the down. The best down comes from larger, more mature birds and goose down is generally better than duck down. More mature goose down has larger filament clusters than less mature goose down and these clusters, when grouped, provide many more trapped air pockets and therefore provide better insulation. To maximize the effectiveness of the down clusters, proper processing of the down -- sorting, washing, and drying -- is required to open them up. Higher fill power means higher loft, better insulation, lighter weight, and greater durability. Marmot tests all of its down for content, cleanliness, species, and fill power, guaranteeing minimum fill power for all down clothing and sleeping bags. Lifetime Warranty Marmot products include a limited lifetime manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. About Marmot In April 1971, University of California Santa Cruz students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in Alaska on the Juneau ice fields for a Glaciology school project. This was where the idea of Marmot, originally a collegiate climbing club, began. Reynolds and Huntley soon began making prototypes of down products such as vests and sleeping bags in their dorm room in Santa Cruz. By the spring of 1973, Reynolds and Huntley partnered with fellow climber Tom Boyce to open a modest rental and retail location, named Marmot Mountain Works, in a 100-year-old building in Grand Junction, Colorado. Their first large order was for 108, as the producer called them, ""very puffy jackets"" for the movie The Eiger Sanction, with Clint Eastwood, which helped make down outerwear fashionable. In 1976, Marmot was one of the first companies to recognize the value of a new technology being developed by W.L. Gore & Associates. Marmot was soon producing waterproof Gore-Tex sleeping bags, with Reynolds and Huntley testing early prototypes by sleeping in meat lockers and under fire sprinklers, and later introduced the waterproof/breathable fabric into nearly all Marmot products. From humble beginnings, Marmot and its product line have grown over the years, and today the company is headquartered in Rohnert Park, California, with offices all over the world and distribution in more than 60 countries.

Marmot!!!
I've known about Marmot when they were manufactured in Colorado in the late 80's. Their product and their quality is known throughout the west and in ski areas. This is a jacket, not a coat. It will protect you from wind and is not completely water proof, but it is resistant to water. When I wear it in really cold weather, say when the wind chill is below 20 F, I usually wear a sweat hoodie under it. Even on real cold days with wind, this jacket is enough for a reasonable amount of time, but at consistently below zero temps, I would be very careful. For really cold temperatures, Marmot makes a very nice, and very expensive, coat with three times the amount of down and it will protect you when the temp is way below zero. Everyone balks at paying $200 for a jacket, but I can guarantee that this jacket will be the last jacket you'll ever buy. And if you consider the number of jackets/coats that an average person buys over twenty years, you'll be paying a lot more than $200. The fit of this jacket is tight, which is what you want with a down jacket or coat. I am 220 pounds and I ordered a XL since I do wear a hooded sweat underneath it for my head. I would get a size bigger than your regular size if you plant to layer in cold weather. It is not a cool weather jacket, it will be very warm when the temperatures get above 50. Amazon will accept returns if a coat does not fit.

Extremely warm. Lightweight. Packable.
The day that it got here it had just snowed in Colorado. I walked my dog for over an hour and 17° weather and was perfectly warm with only one fleece layer underneath it. It’s absolutely amazing. It packs up well, and isn’t too bulky either.

Not the best quality
The zippers catch the fabric and it does leak feathers

Wierd shape - me or the jacket.
Really wanted to like and keep this jacket. Looked great and nice color - but the fit is very strange - seems to be for people with thin torso and long thin arms with small shoulders. I tried a medium size but was too tight in the ribs , shoulders and biceps. Also tried the large size (I really wanted to like this jacket) but was then too long and poor fit around the waist. If you are tall and thin it may be good for you.

Great Jacket
I've had this jacket before, but it got ruined, so knew I needed a new one. The old one had a fill count of 800 made in China, this one is 700 fill count made in Viet Nam and honestly I can't tell the difference. I was worried that perhaps it was a knockoff, but after receiving the jacket, I'm convinced its' the real deal. Love that it's so warm, but incredibly light

This jacket sheds "the finest quality 700 fill power down" so frequently its a mess to wear.
I love Marmot products, but this jacket sheds "the finest quality 700 fill power down" so frequently its a mess to wear. It sticks all over the car seat each time I wear it (had it for several months now). Maybe this is the reason you can get such a "good deal" for it on here. Probably just selling the factory rejects. Do not buy.

Jacket is very good.
I have a different 700 series coat, and needed something new and quickly for ski trip as under layer for warmth. This jacket was available in less than 24 hours, so I bought not expecting greatness. To my surprise, is a very good jacket. Warm, sleek so fits under my shell, and very comfortable. I am quite satisfied as my other 700 series was about 140 percent the cost of this Marmot. That being said, is very good, I didn't rank as great. If would be better if equipped with a zipping inside pocket and thumb loops for when using as under layer. Outside of this, no complaints to -10oC where I used it. 6 ft 190 pounds, 34'' waist 44'' chest and medium size fits well.

excellent fall/spring ultra light down jacket
This is an excellent fall/spring ultra light down jacket. It's packable, light but super warm. exterior material looks to be fragile but thankfully i haven't been able to rip it yet (general daily wear). The only thing missing is a breast/chest pocket (interior or exterior). Fit is average and other reviews are true, the feathers are always falling out but it doesn't bother me. I hope it lasts me until next season too.
