I like to purchase toys by Melissa and doug because they tend to be more sturdy. If your child is rough with toys, the cardboard food boxes won’t hold up but they are adorable and it’s a perfect grocery set.

Cute addition to Melissa & Doug Fresh mart

This set is a cute addition to the fresh mart. I really like the hanging shelf with wooden bubble gum, granola bar, chapstick, fruit leather, and plastic magazine. I also like the tuna & soup cans made from plastic with removable lid. I don’t care for the boxed food. Yes, they are a thicker cardboard compared to an actual box used for brownies/cookies/rice etc… but it’s still a cardboard box. My 3 year old is rough with things and often stands on things. We already tossed the cereal box bc it broke. If your child is more gentle with their toys, then this part of the set might be a non issue for you. They are sturdy enough, but would prefer a plastic over cardboard. The store bag, apron, and money are also nice additions for the store. Overall not a bad purchase, but it would need plastic boxes over cardboard to get five stars from me. I’d still rate it a 4 though.

Wonderful Shopping Items

Our two year old daughter loves to play with these in her grocery store. She loves putting the items inside her bag and using the play cash and credit card to pay for items. The only problem we have come across is the wood products (the gum, lip stick, etc…) she likes to put them in her mouth and so does our one year old daughter. The paint starts to come off and that is a little worry for us.
