Simple, elegant, well made quality construction but pricey

I recently renovated 3 bathrooms and used this Moen series of towel bars, tissue holders and robe/towel hooks. All together, I installed 6 towel bars, 3 tissue holders, and 4 robe/towel hooks. I bought some of the items from a local supplier and others from Amazon, about a 50/50 split. The machining on the nickel style bars is impeccable. The wall brackets are fairly ingenious and if you use care, you can install them to look absolutely flawless on a freshly painted wall or a wooden backer. You will need a drill motor, drill bit set, phillips 2 inch #2 bit, a small level and a stud finder if you really want to do it right. All these Moen pieces come with installation templates for the various size towel bars and tissue holders. I recommend using a stud locator and attaching the fixed point of the tissue holder to a stud so it won't come loose. All the bars and hooks come with hardware and a small hex/Allen wrench for affixing the towel bar to the wall bracket. The photo shows two of the robe/towel holders mounted on a piece of ebonized curly maple that I milled for two of the bathrooms. I'm not a fan of hanging a heavy robe on a wall hook mounted to drywall with wall molys - it's just not strong enough. Either screw to a stud or make a wooden backer like I did in the photo. The only downside of these items is price. They are expensive but I did catch an 18" towel bar for $13.49 (list price $75) from Amazon Warehouse, The product was perfect when it arrived. Overall, these bars and hooks are minimalistic, well made, can be installed with simple hand tools but do require a certain level of DIY skill. Good luck!

Perfect hand towel rack if you cut it down

Bought what Moen calls a hand towel rack and it wasn’t even big enough to hold a washcloth, let alone a hand towel (less than 6” wide; what was Moen thinking). I then bought this 18” towel bar and cut 6” off one end (wrap with duct tape first to keep from scratching it.) I used a cut off saw but a hack saw would also work. Now I have the perfect hand towel rack.

Great Buy

This product is of better quality than the moen products found at the local big box stores. I originally purchased a moen toilet bar from HD for about $38. I brought it home took it out and ready to install but last minute decision found a different model and colour and ordered it online. I was a bit annoyed as it was more than twice the price. I don't know why but as we know you get what you pay for. This moen is so much better. It is thicker and heavier which makes it feel like better quality. The one from HD was thinner, lighter and felt cheap compared to this. Then when I saw the anchors it came with, once again much better quality. It comes with a metal anchor that expands behind the wall so the bar feels like it's on a stud. Very sturdy. The HD product came with the cheap plastic yellow basic anchor which I find don't work as well. Even though this is much more expensive then the moen products found at your local big box store, it is well worth it. I don't regret the purchase at all. Looks and feels great in my bathroom
