Just okay but gets the job done
Its much easier for me to use this than a knife to get even cake tiers but its also not the greatest thing in the worlds. I think its a classic you get what you pay for. Perfectly fine for the price. I will continue to use it

1 layer -> 2. Works pretty well
Got this mostly to split layers in half, but also for certain cake leveling operations. It worked pretty well, even on a fairly tender cake. It would be better if the cutting wired were pulled slightly tighter, and if it were a bit more adjustable, but it worked pretty well as-is. Managed to split a 9" layer into 2 pieces without significant damage, and smooth out the top at the same time. My goal was to be left with an absorbent surface, so the lack of the normal cake top was a good, not bad thing.

A bit confusing.
I tried to use this finally but I could not figure out quite how to use it to cut the top off my cake so I had to use a knife instead. Maybe a short demonstration video would have helped me.

Could be much better
This cutter would be much, much more effective if the cutting wire was serrated. You shouldn't need to freeze the cake or do anything more than let the cake cool before cutting. This wire is just a smooth wire, so it doesn't really 'saw' through the cake like it needs to. The wire just pulls through, kinda. If you have a cake with any kind of bits in the batter, such as a carrot cake, you will have a hard time with it pulling the cake instead of cutting it. If you're looking for a cutter like this, take it from me, look for one with a serrated wire. This thing is basically a giant cheese cutter.

Couldn’t get it they the cake
I tried to cut the cakes with this but it wouldn’t go thru the cake, I ended up using a bread knife instead. I think it’sa cool design but if it had an actual blade on it it would have been great

Fragile
The wire is a fragile. If the cake is not soft enough, you might end up with a lose wire, just like I did.

Good levelee
Nice cake leveler! The only downside is when I don't want to remove the cake tops and I only want to torte my cakes, I guess only one wire was just enough, but what I do is I just move it all the way to the handle so I can only work with the second one.
