Exactly what I needed

Just the ticket

This bolt makes latching the shed doors easy for a top latch. It's heavy duty enough I don't have to worry about it falling apart or corroding past easy fix or cleaning. The description says for in-swinging doors only, but reversing the bevel on the bolt is easy and takes about fifteen seconds...you can use for in and out swinging doors. A little white lithium grease on the bolt has made it reliably self-latching for me.

Good value, a few issues

Overall looks good quality, functional, with a few issues (expected for the price, not for fine cabinetry!). The (token) mounting screws are much too small; replace with appropriate fasteners for your application. The piece to hold the chain is much too small and the chain would get jammed. Probably should be (dry-) lubed. Bit of slop in the latch. The slanted bolt tip is uneven and looks angled too sharply to just push a door closed. For my application (shed door + twist handle) I'd like weaker springs and galvanizing.

Will this work, Probably. Is it what is in the picture...no. I ordred this because of how it was pictured. It's very unclear the different styles of these and numbering. National has an older number that has been discontinued, but still available on Amazon, and other brands or manufacturers have variling housing styles too..from rounded to squared off. For what it's worth, this number for what I received does match what is on National's website. I agree with others, the spring is quite stiff and really only intended to be a manual spring loaded bolt, I dont see it working well as a latch, despite the angled end.

Great shed latch

We were looking for a shed latch just like this one to replace our old one. Thankfully I saw this one and ordered it. Arrived on time and we're super happy with it. Good quality!

Works as advertised

Worked as expected. Not elegant, however it is robust. I used self tapping screws instead of pre-drilling and using the supplied screws.

This bolt has worked exactly I thought it would. I set it up in a hard to reach area of the barn and now don't have to use a ladder ever time I want to open the door.
