Great for HVZ

The hammershot is like the staple HVZ sidearm. It's incredibly easy too use one handed, have mine in a holster incase my primary goes down. For less than 20 bucks it's perfect for any beginner or advanced nerf hobbiest. The only downside of this blaster is that it only holds 5 darts at a time, it's easy enough to reload but I modified mine to have a 16 dart cylinder for HVZ. If you're unsure about getting this blaster, get it anyways.

A good-looking newer Hammershot, with slightly weaker internals

These newer color options are nice, and for the most part, this is just like the first generation hammershots. The action is clicky but reliable, and it works great for all kinds of darts, including the older Nerf micro darts, including whistlers or sonic screamers, if you can get a hold of some. The only real negative with this version of the Hammershot is that some of the plastic internals seem slightly weaker than those in the orginal Hammershot. This shouldn't really affect normal users, but if you like modding your Nerf blasters with more beefy springs, you might want to make sure to reinforce the plastic seat for your spring, so it doesn't eat its way through the plastic. All in all, this is a nice different printed colorway of a good Nerf blaster that's popular among enthusiasts. The way you can prime it one-handed (if your hands are big enough) makes for an especially fun blaster for a kid or adult who might like to increase their firepower by holding a blaster in each hand. It's only recently there were any good manually primed pistol alternatives to the Hammershot, and even today, it's a classic with several aftermarket modding options.

It's s good Christmas present!

It's a nerf gun, I'm giving, it as a Christmas present, to one, of my nephews, I'm not even sure which one yet,?...or what sisters let there boys, have them even?..But it was on sale for a great deal, so I snagged it up, as a good gift. You can't go wrong with giving, any boys, or girls, nerf guns.?.. It came in the two day prime time... In a small longer brown box. So like I said it is s gift. If I find out after Christmas, it does anything cool. I'll come back, and edit my review.

Not reliable

I almost returned the unit, but I really like the thumb cocking. Randomly it will not fire when cocked and shot. It seems like the barrel gets out of sync with the firing mechanism. I now try to line up a dart after loading. This seems to help.

My Favorite against the kids!

Quick and easy to reload. Easy to conceal against the kids. Old school drop hammer vs pull back with 2 hands is what does it for me!

Accurate and perfect for wars!

We fought over this gun so much we had to buy them for the family! Really, really accurate, easy to use, smooth firing, and the perfect sidearm for parents wanting to pelt their kids in wars.

Works well, but moderately priced

Purchased as a beginner nerf. Stars lost because the hammer takes a significant amount of tension to click into place and the pricing is not great considering the price of a Disruptor ( $20) or Ultra 2($30+) which is motorized. You can operate with one hand, and this does have slam fire. But with the tension so high you will only do that once to feel cool. The darts sure fly though and getting hit has some bite to it. I would give another overall star if price was $ 20 - $ 25.

No scent to speak about

Paint is starting to peel a bit but I really like the colour of the blaster. Again, Nerf Elite darts that comes included with the blaster is not very accurate. Try using Adventure Force Waffle Head Darts. They are so much more accurate.
