The NIBCO 4717 cap pipe fitting is made of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) and has a slip connection. This cap fitting covers the outside of a pipe or fitting to close and terminate its end. It has a female slip opening for sliding over the end of a male unthreaded pipe. The slip end connects to pipes with a smooth bore for enhanced flow. This fitting is made of high performance chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) (FlowGuard Gold) for better ductility and resistance to higher pressures and temperatures than PVC, making it suitable for both hot and cold water pressure distribution systems in residential and commercial applications. CPVC can be connected to other materials such as steel or copper using transition fittings. This fitting provides superior flow to metal because of its smooth interior finish, which reduces friction and inhibits buildup of materials. This fitting meets American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D2846 specifications for quality assurance. These are such a simple item to review............... I can only say they were properly sized, had no burrs or swarf... and fit as they should. I recommend them.

It's a cap. It does its job like a cap should.

I could not find this in stock at my local Lowe’s store so Amazon was a great way to get what I needed.

Very small

These ½" PVC caps are half the size of the ½" PVC caps I get from hardware stores. They do not fit the standard ½" PVC pipes and fittings I'm used to getting locally. There's no real way to know that when buying online when you can't see scale, but these are small. It's tricky to know what you're getting when different companies have different definitions of what ½" PVC is. Other than the size, they seem fine.

This is a CPVC cap; not a Schedule 40 PVC cap.

This is not a PVC cap, it is a CPVC cap as stated and is designed for the smaller CPVC pipe. What the other reviewers were looking for was a "Schedule 40" PVC cap.
