The Norton Non-Woven Rapid Strip depressed-center wire wheel brush attaches to random orbit and rotary sanders to remove paint, rust, coatings, light edge burrs, parting lines, and flashing. The semi-flexible open web design resists loading and allows the wheel to conform to edges, contours, and uneven surfaces without gouging. The coarse abrasive is uniformly distributed and bonded throughout the wheel to provide consistent performance. The aggressive free-cutting action helps avoid smearing on the workpiece. The wheel mounts using the depressed-center 5/8"-11 threaded arbor hub. Rotary action abrasive wheels and wire brushes attach provide aggressive free-cutting action for stripping, cleaning, and light burr removal on wood, plastic, masonry, fiberglass, and metal. The standard fastening type is an arbor hole in the center of the brush or wheel. Norton Abrasives manufactures sanding, grinding, and polishing abrasives. The company, founded in 1885, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards 9000 and 14001 for quality and environmental management.

Better than what Home Depot sells
I used to be able buy this item at Home Depot, not anymore. HD tries to force you to buy exactly what they want you to by only selling one of a particular item. They used to sell this one by Norton but now they only sell one by another brand that is significantly inferior to this one. Boycott home depot.

Little expensive for the life
these things are pretty damn good. They don't have the life that i was expecting. I bought 1 to remove the paint from 3 old aluminum stadium seats i have in my backyard. And 1 lasted just enough to do one seat. They work very quickly but you really should wear long sleeves and pants becuase chunk of the disc will fly off at a high rate of speed and they can sting pretty good. And of course wear eye protection, maybe even a full face shield. When i would try to sand the rivets on the seats a piece or 2 would always fly off, and i was wearing shorts and it gave me a couple little welts. All in all it worked great, but i need to buy at least 2 more for the other 2 seats.

Overpriced, don't hold up very well, wears out quick
Have been using these type of discs from other manufacturers to grind stuff for years; the last time I bought some of these type of discs in bulk was a few years ago at Harbor Freight (I think they were like Pittsburgh brand). For some reason they stopped carrying them though, albeit they lasted for quite a while. So now I ordered a couple of these instead and let me tell you, I don't know if they're running out of whatever these things are made of or maybe this manufacturer adds some plutonium or what to them, but they've gotten expensive as heck and don't last a fraction of what the cheap brand did. Part of the rating scale asked me to rate this thing's sheerness - not sure what they meant by that but it sure feels like they're sheering your money right out of your wallet.

Works Better Than Others, But There Are Better Options
Of the paint stripping wheels I've used, this version from Norton is the best, by far. This does the job and outlasts the others brands I've tried. That said, it's a costly way to do business. What I've discovered is it works much better to get a Diablo backing pad and use 24 grit Diablo grinding discs to get the job done. The Diablo griding discs cost a fraction of what these paint stripper discs cost and far outlast the stripper discs by a long, long, long time. (you can use either 4 1/2" or 5" pads and discs on your 4 1/2" grinder). It's a dusty endeavor, so keep that in mind. Also, care must be used if using a grinding disc (more care than is needed if using stripping discs), as you can gouge woodwork easily if not careful, if you are exhausted, etc.

My favorite disk
I repainted a 25 year old snow thrower with the help of these. Everyone seems to recommend flap disks, but they don't move paint and rust anywhere near as fast as these Norton disks. They are also really good at putting an edge on an old tool. They grind off metal fast but not so fast that you end up with a ragged, rolled over edge. Finally the life seems really good. I stripped the entire front end of the snow thrower and about 8 yard tools on a single disk, and that one disk still has 75% of its grit left. I'm ordering more now, just so I have it ready for later.

Effective and fast. Didn't exactly work for my job.
Works great but Wish it lasted longer. I would have needed three or four to really do my job right stripping old wrought iron. Would have got too expensive. Burned one up and gave up. Too bad. I just ended up stripping the worst areas that were actively flaking. Job was half assed, but the best I could do based on the time and pay involved. Review would be 5 star if it lasted longer or was a few bucks cheaper.
