Needs Better Internal Surge Protection - Very Limited Warranty
I am an electrical engineer and assisted the inside install of this timer by a licensed electrician for controlling parking lot lights. We choose it to replace an electromechanical Intermatic T103 (which lasted 11 years) because we wanted the additional digital features. However, it completely failed after about 7 months. A call to tech support was answered quickly, but I was informed that the unit was probably blown out by a surge and that if we did not have surge protection on it, it would likely not be warrantied if sent back. The problem here is that the unit is line connected and should have its own robust internal surge protection and if not, there should be a strong bold warning on the installation instructions. So I am replacing this unit again at my expense ($200 with electrician) and will not pursue the warranty. Bottom line is do not install any NSI digital unit without robust inline surge protection (MOVs both lines to ground at a minimum). Also note that the first time setup takes some figuring out, so don't plan on it being intuitive or fast. We ended up writing our own clear cheat sheet instructions for the building owner.

The best, safest, 240V timer on Amazon
The finest 240V single program digital timer switch you'll find. It stands head and shoulders above the Intermatic ones. Someday I'll go into the details, but at every moment of setting it up and using it, I'm constantly impressed. UL CSA and NEMA 3 for wet locations. It's epic.

This is a good replacement for the old mechanical timer. Thanks to the battery backup, a power outage no longer causes my timed lights to be off schedule.

Seems to be good but I do not trust electronic controllers because they are very sensitive to electrical surges and near by lighting strikes.

I use this type of timer at work for outside lighting and this one is exactly the same and the price is good.
