File and Guide worked!
My old 3/16 file was worn out so I just replace it with a new guide and file. Just depends on the brand of chain as to how long the file last. Some chains are harder than others, same is true of files. The guide and file cost less than the local retail stores charge.

Best chainsaw sharpener I've ever used
I've bought every contraption for sharpening my chainsaw but none compare to this sharpener. I put the chainsaw in my bench vise, used the file/guide and had a sharp chain in 15 mins.

Easy to use with a little patience. This will save me some money. Plenty of on line instructions.

Finally I can sharpen a chain!!
After way too many years I can file a chain and it's close to being as sharp as a new chain. With the help of a video from 'Oregon' and the use of a vice I am easily able to sharpen my chain. Filing the rakers is explained in the video too and I have the Oregon guide for that too. I'm producing nice big chips and am going through an 18 inch diameter ash log fairly quickly. Very satisfying.

Excellent product
As a senior citizen, retired my Husqvarna 20" chainsaw, bought a small Stihl 180 with a much thinner chain. Used the file with the file guide, quite easy to line up... stellar results... went from sawdust to large wood chips and easy cutting :)

WORKS
The file seems to be sturdy and works pretty good. You still have to know how so sharpen a saw blade it will not work by its self. I purchased 3 different ones for all my saw sizes

Forget All The Expensive Gimmicks..Just Get This!
Forget all of the expensive fancy chain sharpening gadgets that have become ubiquitous....they work no better than thie tried-and-true old-fashioned (and they often don't even work as good!) and they cost from near fifty bucks to several hundred! Just get this simple Oregon guide and some files compatible with the size of chain you have; a depth gauge, and a flat file...and watch a Youtube video or two on how to use them, and you'll always have razor sharp chains in a jiffy. Once you understand what to do...it's not hard at all, and all of those other "systems" are just overpriced and unnecessary, and yet another thing that takes away your control.

Works with or without the guide.
This is my 2nd sharpener like this. Bought to replace my first one which also made for a nice sharp chain. Until I lost it in the bush and replaced it with this one. Then I found my first one and have since lost this one. So it all worked out. Recommended.

An inexpensive but very useful tool.
My local chainsaw maintenance person went out of business. I needed to find another way to resharpen the chain om my Echo chainsaw. Using just the proper file was hard to do with accuracy. This setup made it far easier. Watching Steve's Small Engine Saloon video on YouTube with this device showed me several additional tips on using this sharpening kit. I am happy with this purchase and so is my chainsaw.
