OREGON 72, 73, 75RD specialty 3/8" ripping chains feature a special factory grind for making dimensional boards and planks from larger timbers by "ripping" (cutting parallel to the wood grain). Recommended Saw Size: For ripping cuts only. Do not use these chains for any type of cutting other than ripping. WARNING: OREGON72, 73, 75RD chain may be capable of kickback that could result in serious injury to the saw operator or bystanders. Although these chains have features designed to reduce kickback energies, these are NOT low-kickback chains. Do not use this saw chain unless you have experience and specialized training for dealing with kickback. Saw chain with lower kickback potential is available.

Vibe-Ban chassis design reduces vibration 25-percent or more at the handles. LubriLink tie straps help keep oil where it's needed - on the chain. For use on chain-type sawmills; not recommended for hand-held use. Standard chassis and cutter parts are used; cutter grind is the only difference from standard chains. 72RD: 3/8" pitch, .050" gauge.

Good for the money. Keep sharp and don’t run it hard
It’s great but cutters break easily.

.050" gauge chain and bar don't fit together - they seize, and no support from Oregon
The media could not be loaded. I ordered an Oregon 320RNDD025 .050" Gauge 3/8" Pitch 32" Power Match Bar and a matching Oregon 72RD105G 105 Drive Link 3/8-Inch Ripping Chain, Standard Sequence. These don't fit together. The gauge of the chain is slightly bigger than .050, as you can see from my micrometer readings, the gap in the bar is .053 So it seizes up. You cannot slide the chain at all in the bar. I did get it to work for about 1 minute, when I first put it on, but I fear that I may have damaged it all. I have tried to contact Oregon but three weeks have passed and no follow up. I've now missed the return window. Not happy. UPDATE 2/2/21 - I tried one more time and they actually got back to me, apologized that I was never followed up with and claimed it was due to COVID staffing. Fair Enough. They sent me a replacement chain and other instructions. Let's see how it holds up (not going to use until summer). Upgrading from 1star to 3.

Works great!
I slabed several boards with this chain and it was working perfect and throwing some nice chips.

Chain cut as advertised
Chain retained enough sharpness to rip cut 7, 8 foot length oak boards, 1.25" thick

it's been great for milling
I'm using this in a sawmill, leaves a smooth cut, it's been great for milling beams

Wrong length and deceptive label
The box arrived pretty banged up, and likely previously opened. Chain looked fine. Was looking forward to running my Alaska Mill today with a proper ripping chain. Mounted chain on bar, clearly several inches short. Counted links, supposed to be 105, only 91. Looked closer at the box, realized there was a label proclaiming 105 links over the top of what appears to be the manufacturer label showing "91DL". Either intentional deception or very poor quality control. Either way, not cool.
