The Best

My can opener broke mid use and I had to borrow my neighbors. Wow this can opener was great, easy to operate and a nice grip. I had to buy one for myself. You won't be disappointed.

The model that made me fall in love with Oxo.

Decades ago, I went to the store that sells home goods and tried to explain to the nice customer service representative that all I wanted to buy was *ONE* can opener that would open cans and not cut me, that will last *For-EVErrrrr!!!* She nodded and introduced me to my best friend. I did buy another one. So that I could round up my mother’s collection of can opener zombies and throw them out, replaced by a can opener that opens cans without blood, tears and etc. Best day.

Get this one!

For years in my early married life I used this OXO can opener until it finally gave up. (I never used a electric, or any other type of opener during that time). After my first one broke I tried replacing it with 5 different openers, even a Commercial professional hand can opener...and NONE of them would open a darn can correctly or smoothly! I finally got in Amazon, but that bullet and bought another one. I'm mad at myself for wasting money on the other 5! This manual can opener from OXO is the only one I've ever used that actually works, and doesn't hurt my hands. Learn from my frustration and get you one, you won't be sorry.

It works way better than the pricey can openers

The other reviewers were correct this can opener actually works. We have been frustrated by the fancy name brand can openers that just do a horrible job of opening cans if they work at all. OXO can opener has not failed yet. I have had this for two months now the fancy expensive one is in the trash. OXO can opener is the one to get if you want to open cans. The name brand stuff is the one to get to pretend you are a cook. So if you are dating and like good food check the kitchen drawer. Name brand can opener = lousy cook. OXO can opener=person is a cook.

It opens cans with ease and feels well made. Seems slightly larger than it needs to be but the performance is excellent.

Best can opener

Iv tried so many different brands and styles of can openers. This is the best one by fa. so easy to use, comfortable to hold. Great quality, I'm sure it will last a very long time

Perfect, hope it lasts

Too expensive but oh boy it's in a different league from every other opener I've used. Cuts through cans like butter and so smooth, it's a joy. Why can't all openers be like this?! I just hope it will last, I'm scared to wash it :)

Another solid OXO product on the cheap

I bought 3 OXO Good Grips items in the past year. Two are stellar, and one is mediocre (I'm looking at you, Lasagna flipper). As my Starfrit can opener recently died a dull death, I searched Amazon for a replacement. The Starfrit wasn't a bad product or brand, but all good can openers must dull. Ultimately, I bought the OXO due to its high average review score. ◘ Functionality ◘ Fortunately, OXO's can opener is of the stellar variety. It tightly grips cans and succinctly slices through metal without a fuss. I've washed it many times, and it shows no signs of wear. ◘ Grip ◘ The grips are rubberized and true to their name: quite good. The turning handle is large enough that it will never hurt your fingers on a stubborn can, which may not even exist since it slices so easily. ◘ Additional thoughts ◘ 1. While it opens cans with ease, it can cause lids to fall into the can if you chop full circle. It does not grip the can and help you out in any way. Like I said, it's a very basic can opener... and all I need, frankly. I tend to leave a tiny bit on top and just pull the lid off to avoid any issues. It's something to consider if buying for someone who has difficulty manipulating the average opener. 2. This specific can opener is NOT magnetized, just to clear up any marketing confusion. ◘ Conclusion ◘ I'm very happy with this product, and I hope our relationship lasts many years. Fingies crossed! Update 06/10/2019: Been using it for over a year. No rust, and it opens cans like it's new. Couldn't ask for more.
