Excellent for the Money and Intended Use
It's light duty and you should plan to use it as such. My current house is too small to have a dedicated workshop area, despite all the work I do on guns and other things. I got this so I could clamp it to the kitchen counter for an AR build. It's not as good as if I had a dedicated space for a medium duty vise, but it worked as well as could be expected. My two complaints are the depth of the vise and the clamp face surface material. When the vise is open you don't have enough depth to it for some needs. The top guide bar gets in the way. As other reviewers have said the clamp face is smooth paint. This allows slippage without a lot of clamp force but I don't see this as a big drawback as they make this stuff called... sandpaper. Skateboard tape would be another good way around this. Great vise that seems well put together. Just remember that it's quite small and for light use.

Very Solid built Vise for $20 Shipped - Great for Golf Grip Installation!!!!
I was looking for an inexpensive vise to use to install my new golf grips. I searched many others on ebay and Amazon and finally settled on this one due to the low price and free shipping. Today I installed my golf grips on my irons and this vise worked perfectly. You have to also buy the rubber shaft holder that surrounds the shaft when clamping down. I mounted this vise to my kitchen table and used 2 pieces of cut bicycle tube to protect the top and the bottom when gripping this vise to my table. The rubber also acted as a grip and held well. I could see way more uses from this vise but my main focus on buying this was for re-gripping my golf clubs. It makes aligning and installing the new golf grips onto the shaft really fast. I would rate this 10 STARS for the low price and good quality, but the MAX is 5 STARS.

A nice, small vise.
On the plus side, the vise is made entirely of metal (no cheap plastic parts) and can be secured via its clamp to a table, sawhorse or other surface. The jaws are smooth and while other reviewers have complained about a weak grip, I found mine to hold metal rods, wood and other items quite well. On the minus side, the pin used in one of the rods grinds against the body of the vise when opening the jaws. It is not hard to open the jaws, it is just a bit annoying. The jaws close smoothly. As the description says, this is a light-duty vise and is suitable for light work. It is really not designed for fine work-you would obviously want a specialized vise for things like tying flies or doing fine jewelry work.

Clamp on vise
Like I can mount it any where. Have a rubber made cabinet outside and used it many times when I have cut or loosen any thing. Also like that it easy to come off and can store it and dose not take up too much room.

Ok for the price
I haven't used this vice yet and is smaller then I thought but clamps to surfaces I tried just fine. Be aware though this vice does not have jagged jaws to hold maybe slippery items as well but clamps tight enough so should be fine. Vice should work for what I bought it for, sharpening saw blades and or holding material for gluing, drilling or cutting etc although jaws only open to a little over 2" so it wont hold like larger PVC pipe or materials larger then that.. The fact that its portable is nice also so can be used anywhere there is something like a bench or table to clamp to.

Deceptive Appearance
Somehow, this vise seems larger in the photo. The product description does not give any indication of the most important feature, namely, the jaws width. They're 3 inches wide, and so now you know how small the product really is. Also, in the photo the jaws have the appearance of having teeth, by the fact that they are not painted. However, in reality the jaws are perfectly smooth on the inside, and are painted orange like the the rest of the item. Fortunately, it works well for the specific purpose I had for it. The clamp is OK for this size of vise and the jaws have sufficient strength. But just keep in mind, this is most definitely a hobby clamp which is just perfect for your Dremmel tool, but most certainly not compatible with your angle grinder. Ron DiGiovanni Easton, PA

Solid painted metal; does what it is intended to do, but smaller than the picture suggests.
It is smaller than I expected, but also heavier and more solid. There isn't much space to work with for the bottom clamp, but it's designed to be attached to a table or desk anyway, so I give it 5 stars for what it can do for the money. There is no swivel of course, but no wiggle or slippage once it is clamped tight. There is no rubber stoppers on the vice, think "solid painted metal." You could probably kill someone with this if thrown, so watch out for your toes if you drop it. Mine had it's handle sticking out of the factory and shipping packages.

Definition of meh
Meh. It works and is portable but don't think you are getting the same performance as a bolted down heavier duty vise. Many would consider this a light duty vise and I agree. So for what it is it is technically great and bump up the rating to 4/5, HOWEVER, advice is to only buy if for some reason you just are not able to get a bolted down vise (you live in an apartment and can't fit a work table/bench, you need to have it with you like in a truck or something) just get a bolted down vise as those are more capable and you probably will end up getting one eventually anyway and probably have access to a work bench.
