no filler
This product dissolved well in the water with no filler in it, all chlorine. Our local pool store sells a different brand that leaves little pieces of who-knows-what that feel like styrofoam in my pool and hot tub. This is much better and the price wasn't too high.

Unacceptable Packaging
The product and value are good and certainly would rate a 5 star. BUT, the package was impossible to open normally.. The lld was fused to the bucket. There was no possibility of applying enough twisting force to break the seal even after removing the ratchet safety. By forcing a screw driver between lid and bucket separating the threads, going completely around several times, I was able to break the seal after 30 minutes of hard work. Each time the screw driver was inserted you could hear a portion of the seal snap loose. The only other possibility was to use a saber saw. Item number 1-1308pm, 8 lb. PoolMate Stabilized Concentrated Chlorinating Granuales. Whether this problem exists with other samples is unknown.

It's a lot, but it's not "a lot a lot"
I've hit up all my local stores for chlorine for my spa. Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's...all of them (excluding specialty spa/pool stores that charge $$$ for chemicals). The selection was pathetic. Walmart didn't have powder, and Home Depot & Lowe's had huge buckets for more than I was willing to spend. This hit the sweet spot. Powder, reasonably priced, enough to last. And it does the job. Perfect!

That's fine in a hot tub because it's warm and you ...
Much less expensive than the stuff you'll get at the local pool store. But the grains are larger, so it won't dissolve quite as quickly. That's fine in a hot tub because it's warm and you can use the jets to speed things up, but in a pool you're likely to end up with a bunch of grains sitting on the bottom for awhile which could bleach it. Even though it claims to be quick-dissolving, it's not dichlor, so you will probably want to dissolve it in water before you toss it in your pool.
