Fix to closet doors

Easy to install, great fix to closet doors with this type of attachment

Worked but needs a design improvement.

It works as bottom pivot replacement for a folding door but needs to be designed better. This one looks like a nut with a smooth round stud/stem sticking out of it. The problem with it that it doesn't hold well in the bottom channel with the ridges and slides as you close and open the door which results in the edge of the door scratching the wall. I had to put improvised stoppers into the channel to prevent door from moving. The original pivot that looks like a ribbed cone that get trapped in the ridges of the bottom channel and won't move.

Nice, a better part than the original

So the best way to fix the bifold door is first to drill out the old worn hole. The old hole was almost certainly 3/8 of an inch. Drill a 1/2 inch hole (larger than the original) and glue in a 1/2 inch dowel. wait a day to dry. Then drill out a new 3/8 inch hole and use this for the new pivot. The added support from the nail/screw holes will help stabilize the bottom pivot, delaying the day when you'll have to replace this again. If the hole is still in pretty good shape you may not need to drill out the hole. Either way, I love these enhanced pivots, much better than the ones you just jam into the old holes and hope for the best.

Watch the opening size

It's a great product. Be careful. If you are replacing a tapered pivot the size of the home may be too big for this. If you are drilling a new hole it's a great product.

Good idea but could not use

Made by same company that mades the other bifold door hardware. This needed 3/8 inch hole. The door had a 7/16 inch hole. Larger than this hardware. Would have needed to drill the hole bigger and glue a piece of doulling and then drill to proper size to use. I replaced bottom bracket, buit up the door and reused the original pivot pin. Did not use this one.
