Nice fans

We have two of these and they work well with no motor noise, unlike the Harbor Breeze unit we also have. We also have a smaller Progressive Lighting fan and it seems to be as good as the larger ones. I will stay with Progressive Lighting fans from here on out.

Progress Lighting P2503-30W 52-Inch Performance 5 Blade Fan with 3-Speed Reversible Motor, White Got this "Used - Like New) on Amazon Warehouse Deals for more than 80% off list price, when I opened the box I couldn't tell if it was ever used because the original 80" length of wire has not been cut, the fan blades were still shrink wrapped, and there were no visible marks on the fan motor assembly. Replaced the 6" downrod with 4.5" from another fan and tried to install with remote receiver, without cutting original length of wires, thinking this is used and might have to return if there was a problem with it. Couldn't do it so had to cut the wires with just 12" extra length over the downrod, finally got it installed. The design of installation where the fan assembly is supported by the canopy itself, hanging from 4 small bolts screwed on to the ceiling frame is more difficult to install compared to other brands' design where the downrod is supported by an inner bracket (and canopy is there just to cover the bracket). Anyway got it to work with remote (paid only $8.50 from WM) and ceiling fan works. Relatively quiet except for a very faint hum at medium and high speeds. At 20 lbs, this seems like a solidly built fan, hopefully it lasts a long time. There is a contractor or "Builder" model P2501-30W at half the original cost of this fan and weighs in at about 15 lbs, so that is a cheaper option but looks very similar. On the other hand I bought HB Farmington brand from HD, it is brand new but on sale at a few dollars more than what I paid for this, and weighs in at about 15 lbs too. Haven't installed it yet, but will compare performance later.
