Fun toy - great idea to make it adjustable
Quality toy. Not great making different notes but makes up for it in making it fun toy to play with making different shapes. 1 yo and 3 yo got a ton of fun out of it!

Fun
Fun toy, but I wish that more pieces has holes to change the pitch.

Easily one of my toddler's favorite toys
Found this while looking for "Tuba kids" when my toddler son was obsessed with tubas (can you believe there are no tubas for kids around?). We got it and he loves it. It's easily one of his favorite toys. Since you can assemble and reassemble, it's very versatile. It's a tuba, a trumpet, a saxophone, a trombone - and much more. I'm actually getting a second one now since the first one has been abused and is likely host to a whole generation of toddler's mouth flora. Recommended.

Love the multi-funcional use, but some parts fit loosely
I purchased this for my twin toddlers to use as a multi-functional educational toy. Odd, but we really like this toy for everything but making a saxophone out of. I was originally going to purchase an auditory feedback phone for one of my twins who was regressing with their speech and word use. The plastic phones are used to hear your own voice and practice pronunciation, but they cost around $8 for one. I saw this toy and realized I could make multiple colorful versions of something similar and have a building toy/instrument for them to play with for only a few more dollars. I was able to make 3 individual "phones" for them out of this set and they work as I intended. They love hearing their own voice through the tubes and make longer tubes to talk lightly into each others ears or sing into. It's especially effective for them to learn to say hard sounds better. This has helped motivate her to start practicing words again and helps build vocal muscles through the use of the whistle and making noises through the tubes. They build fun little sculptures out of them and I tried getting them to play with it like a saxophone, however as other reviews have stated, it flops around and falls apart because some of the pieces fit too loosely together. Because we love playing with these and are happy that the plastic is durable and made in Italy, I give it 4 stars, but took one away for the loose fitting parts.

Great Fun For The Musically Inclined Toddler
I kept this product in mind for my child after gifting an earlier version of this to a niece 8 years ago (or so). My niece loved it then, as does my toddler now. The earlier version lives at grandma's house now (where my clever sibling retires loud toys), so I was able to compare the newer model with the older. Basically, the new model is lighter and the pieces don't fit together tightly (or as well) as the older model. This can lead to some frustration from the little ones, but if they are really into the concept (and really into music), they will make it work. Leading the way (literally) can help. We play marching band, and my little one switches out pieces as needed, to mimic different instruments. Even one or two pieces will do for her. At 2 and half, she is slowly learning which pieces to put together to make a particular sound, and has even figured out which pieces hold together the best. It's true that this is not a perfectly manufactured toy with pieces fitting together with Lego precision, but for the concept and open play possibilities, this toy is a great value for the $, and we would happily purchase this again for our own or as a gift for others. PS Teach your child how to make sounds by singing or making sounds through the tubes, so if the mouthpiece were to mysteriously disappear for a day or two (parents need a break sometimes), it wont be a big deal. :)

Some of the best gifts are the most simple.
There's not much to this. It comes with a plastic trumpet end and mouthpiece, 3 tubes with holes in them to change the sound, and then a handful of elbows. It puts together 2 things my toddler loves, making noise and building things. The possibilities are near endless. You can use as many or as few pieces as you want; they all go together easily. The sound is exactly like a plastic recorder and the more pieces you add the more it changes slightly. No matter how simple it is though, it's proving to be a ton of fun.

his parents hated it, which is great as he never would ...
Bought one of these years ago for a nephew, his parents hated it, which is great as he never would have had such an excellent toy otherwise. My granddaughter will be equally happy with it I'm sure.

confused by good reviews!? rubbish!!
Ok id be happy if i paid £3/£4 but I didn't. Its not worth more.. Flimsy plastic, the pieces don't stay together, when you add a curved piece the weight just spins it and it all hits floor!! It sounds like a bad recorder.. I can't get it to play more than one whiney note!! Doesn't matter how its built its not tuneful just simply one note comes out.. Yes you can put finger on a few holes like a recorder to change it slightly, but nothing really changes. Would return if I had time but unfortunately having to give as gift and no time to replace . Dissapointed. Description is deceiving.

Buy a recorder instead
My daughter absolutely loves this but it is poor quality! You would be better off buying a recorder as that is basically what she uses as all the curved pieces do not stayed together.
