PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Rain Bird SW20-30PS Drip Irrigation Spot Watering Dripper/Emitter, 2.0 Gallon Per Hour, 30-Pack. This robust pressure-compensating emitter provides a medium-high 2.0 gallon-per-hour flow rate. Ideal for watering root zones of garden and landscape plants, shrubs, bushes, small trees and medium size containers. Rain Bird's pressure-compensating design ensures all plants receive the desired watering rate regardless of their position along the distribution tubing run. Uniform flow is delivered throughout a wide pressure range from 15 to 50 psi. Barbed ends securely retain 1/4" Drip tubing for a leak-proof connection. Self-piercing barb allows for direct insertion into the side of 1/2" or larger Drip irrigation tubing, or use with 1/4" tubing for positioning near individual plants. Simple to insert by hand, or for faster installation use one of Rain Bird’s insertion tools (sold separately): ET/1PK25S, HPUN1-1S, and HPTCX. Accurate and durable

Rain Bird emitters are accurate. Test them yourself. Put a pan under one and measure the result after five or ten minutes. These emitters hold up well season after season. Mohave Desert heat, intense UV radiation, water pressure ups and downs, alkaline heavily mineralized water. Most of the emitters I have to replace are not Rain Bird.

Excellent drip emitters

The media could not be loaded. We bought a new house and the backyard sprinkler system was broken beyond repair. Even with professional help, I was unable to locate the sprinkler valves for the back yard. So instead I set out to research and install my own drip irrigation to automate the watering process, mostly because I am way too lazy to water my backyard every other day. I chose the rainbird family of products because of the positive reviews and the plethora of options. I chose these particular drip emitters for the medium size trees and shrubs in my yard. I chose 1/2 in tubing for the systems backbone. Then 1/4 in tubing to run out to the individual plants, flowers, trees, shrubs... There are two ways you can install them. You can install them straight into the 1/2 in tubing, like I did. The other way is to install a 1/4 in coupler into the 1/2 in tubing, then run a 1/4 tube to the plant. Then connect the drip emitter at that end. I chose this configuration because some people complain about the water pressure pushing the emitter off the end of the tubing. + Great price for a bag of them. + Very easy to install them. Be sure to purchase and use the Rainbird special tool to punch the proper size hole in the tubing. Also use the Rainbird tool to insert the emitters into the tubing. I personally dislike special tools, but they are only a couple bucks each. I saved a ton of money by doing this project myself ($250 total cost), so to me it was worth it to get the specialized tools. + Very happy with the performance so far. - Nothing thus far. I am very happy with the performance of these drip emitters so far. Some people have complained about them getting fouled with dirt. I don't expect to have that issue. Ill update this review as necessary. Highly recommend!!!

There is a specific way to install these emitters

I purchased .5 gph emitters for a very large project to convert my 1800 series sprinkler heads to drip systems. I live in San Antonio, Texas and my water bill was out of control. I bought the Rain Bird sprinkler caps (1800CAPS Spray Head Cap for 1800 Series Sprinklers) to close off the sprinklers so I didn't have to remove them. I bought the Rain Bird Drip Irrigation Conversion Kit (Model #RCKIT-1PS), at Lowes, and used one sprinkler for the conversion kit. I have over 27 sprinkler zones with 500 sprinkler heads to cap for my many plant beds. Also, I have very high water pressure. The local water company will give rebates for the conversion but require the .5 gph emitters. These emitters are pressure compensating and have to be installed in a specific manner. The black pointed tip has to be connected to the half inch or quarter inch tubing with the blue tip emitting the water. If you use the blue tip in the tubing, water will not come out. It is one way directional. I've had a few fail even when installed correctly. I've used the non-water pressure compensating Rain Drip .5 gph BUE05 and it doesn't matter which end is inserted into the tubing. Water flows either way. I've read the reviews about the inconsistent flow rates. I haven't experienced it but it may be because my water pressure is so high. Not sure. So far mine are working properly but I keep a close eye on my plants to see if .5 gph is sufficient for the plant's needs. The wood stakes & barbed wire around some plants in the plant bed photo (3rd photo) are my creation to keep wild hogs from digging up my newly planted plants. It works very well.

Exactly the Right Amount of Water, Exactly Where You Want It, Automatically. Done.

We have about 120 wine grape vines in six 70ft. rows on our Michigan Upper Peninsula farm. They are a mix of 1, 2 and 3 yr. olds. It's a hobby crop and we are trying to be cost and time efficient because we both work full time. Our first watering system was simply runs of soaker hose which proved unsatisfactory for a variety of reasons. We stumbled upon the Rain Bird drip irrigation system while wandering around at Menard's. The 1/2" main water line was quite reasonably priced at $30 something for 500 ft and the 1/4 tubing also at $8 for 100ft. I made my own ground staples out of 12ga vineyard wire) The whole system is well designed and very easy to install. Each of 120 vines required a certain amount of fiddling to get the tubing aimed where you want it but zip tying them to the stakes turned out to be the ticket. I am very impressed with the flexibility and the accurate delivery. We used these 1gph emitters, pierced directly into the main line and 1 foot of small tubing to aim the drip where it's needed. A little bit of trial and error and we discovered some necessary alterations in our plan, but nothing that really set us back---it was all quite logical once we got started with the installation. The whole system is run through a standard digital water timer---the kind used in-line with a garden hose. Pushing the emitters into the hose requires some effort and I'm glad I bought the special tool made for it---but I also found it useful to make a backing block out of a chunk of 2x4 to make that job even easier. Just slide the block under the main hose into the channel and the hose is supported and kept from flattening out as you easily poke that little guy in---(on the end of the block I cut a slot to make pushing in the ground staples easier) see the pictures. On the whole I'm very satisfied and we plan to install another system for our 3 big raised bed gardens. I recommend this system for DIYers and anyone who's a bit handy. Even on much smaller systems than mine, it seems like it would be cost effective in labor and water savings as well as over-all garden health. Note on useful life of system: My goal is to get at least 3 years out of this system, including taking it up each fall and reinstalling each spring. I'll update this review as those experiences are accumulated. So far so good though at this beginning stage.

Just what is needed to improve the flow from Rainbird watering system

The distribution pipes that come with the Rainbird watering system water at a very slow rate. These inserts improve the water dispersion rate so the the system is more practical. I used these to double the number of watering points in a given length of tube.

Garbage clogged up after 2 weeks and had to buy more I changed them all out and they all clofged again very fast I found way better ones then these ones now couldnt keep changing them as it would eventually cause my tubes to leak and made me.need to replace my tubes also Over all 1 star terrible product i will never buy again and you shouldnt either Best of luck

This is for a drip method watering system it works exactly the way I need it to, one gallon a minute so the water can be absorbed into the soil instead of running away, very fast shipping, good product and good seller.
