Fine little pump, but
Buy (separately) a SHUTOFF pressure regulator and replace the standard regulator provided. The only sure thing to ruin this pump is running out of water and burning it up. There is a regulator which will shut the pump off if the pressure is too low, (meaning dry).

Only years will tell the real story, after four days doing fine.
A review after looking at the paint job and initial set up and use is not really possible. And I am pumping out of a tank with gravity flow so I wouldn't know about suction power. In appearance it seems like a good pump but the one it is replacing was still working after over 35 years. And it was still working but it has been leaking around the shaft seal for a few years now. I hope to be able to find a seal for the old one and replace the bearings and get another 35 years out of it or at least have it ready if this pump doesn't last but a few years. one of the reasons I am replacing the old pump is because the bearings were getting noise but this new pump is not much quieter. It may be because of the difference between this stainless steel pump and the other was cast iron. Also I am using the pressure switch that came on the pump but will be replacing it with a low pressure cut off switch. If the storage tank runs out of water the pump will run dry and ruin it . A low pressure cut off pressure switch will prevent that. Pump instructions say no water, no warrantee. Sometimes the well switch does not turn on the well and the tank runs out so the low pressure cut off pressure switch will protect the pump from running dry. It may be a five star pump but it will take years to know for sure so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and gave it four. So we will see. Working fine now but I will probably order an over haul kit to have on hand if it needs it in the future.

Works exactly as designed. Great tech support.
I had a question because of my unique well situation and called tech support. Got a person right away that obviously works with pumps because he immediately answered how to deal with my unique situation.

Works great!
I bought this to replace my previous Red Lion pump. This is a newer model so it wasn't an exact match on the height of the plumbing. So I screwed the new pump down to a piece 5/4 deck board and it matched the height prefectly. This pump pulled a prime on the second try and has worked perfectly since. The pressure switch worked great out of the box and it quickly builds pressure when it kicks on. It's in a pump house so I don't notice/care about the noise.

Worth buying
This pump has run my house for a couple years now. Easy to switch between 115 and 230 volts. I am very happy with it and would buy it again

Pressure switch defective out of the box
Pressure switch defective out of the box. Red Lion is leaving the quality control to customers. I expected a working pump for the money. The customer service phone number is a joke. You get a recorded message telling you to hold forever. Needless to say I do not recommend this pump.

Pump failed after 1 week
The pump worked fine when it was installed. A week later, the pump stopped working and was producing a humming sound and would not pump.
