Nice Adaptable Product

I just finished installing this at the top of our stairs using the wall / square banister options. The instructions were very thorough and straightforward and it wasn't too difficult to install. It definitely feels secure and I feel confident my daughter won't be taking a header down the stairs as long as we latch this properly when using. There's no bottom rail so you don't have to worry about tripping and the connectors on the banister side are nice and secure.

Two round banister folks beware!

Company only sends one round banister attachment…unfortunately we needed two. Just odd that in their instructions they have steps specific to the two banister setup, yet only provide resources for one round banister. Also the threading on one of the provided screws was jacked up, so we have to get that replaced. Put up the gate with the help of some zip ties in the meantime, seems like a solid item that will work well once we get all the pieces.

Only includes 1 round banister piece

I bought this for the top of my stairs where there are 2 round banisters. When I started installing I noticed there was only 1 round spindle piece. It came with a note saying if we want a second round spindle piece we need to contact them. So I tried emailing them using the email from their customer service website but that email address doesn't work. So now I have to find time during business hours to call them cause their customer service line has limited hours. Very annoying. On top of that, I went ahead to put it together as much as I could (to make sure it is worth contacting them) and found that the one spindle piece included is WAY to big. In order to get it to stay at the right spot I had to wrap my banister spindle in a ton of cloth. Oh and one of the mounting straps broke when I was tightening it (it wasn't super tight either). So overall, not a good experience. I think I will return it, but will call them just to see if they can fix these issues.

DOES THE JOB!

This is a sturdy gate and easy to install. The gate is a little tough at times to open single-handedly but not terrible. The only issue I had with the contraption was the double sided tape that is used to protect the bannister; it was barely sticky, however held up once straps were all in and secured.

Meh

I like that I can install it without having to drill into my spindles, and when locked no baby is opening this thing. However, as an adult you will struggle to open it. I’ve only had it installed for a week so maybe I’ll master it, but it’s still a two hand job for me to open and close it, which is a bummer.

Versatile, attractive and compatible.

We've tried every gate under the sun over the last 11 years as our kids grew up. I'm giving this a solid 4 stars. It's not as easy to operate as some but it's far from the disaster that many reviewers here indicate it is. The install was fiddly but not complicated, again, I've seen far worse and far more complicated over the years. The included adapters make it much easier to install on banisters and around baseboards. This was a big deal for us. As you can see from the photo, we needed 3 units to cover an extra wide staircase in an open plan layout. I used different adapters for every gate, but everything I needed was included. Follow the instructions, take your time and these can be great gates.

Pas commode à ouvrir d'une main, mais très solide si bien installé. C'est ce qu'on veut, que ce soit à l'épreuve des petits monstres entreprenants? D'autant plus sur le haut des marches. Il faut deux actions en simultané, actionner le verrou et soulever un peu la clôture. Ceux qui pleurniches que c'est tannant à ouvrir devraient privilégier l'aspect sécuritaire au détriment de leur petite personne et au pire enjamber la clôture quand sa fait pas. Mon installation est vissée au mur d'un côté (dans du solide, côté penture) et attaché au poteau de bois franc. Je considère mon installation garantie à vie plus deux ans. Tous les accessoires sont inclus pour installation vissée des deux cotés ou attaché sur des poteaux des deux cotés. Dans tous les cas il vous reste du hardware. Les attaches ne brisent pas le bois franc. Les visses ne sont pas assez longue pour prise dans du solide. Arrête de brailler pis vas t'en chercher dans ton établis le père. Fais un homme de toi. Arrêtez de pleurer sur votre incapacité à combler tous vos petits caprices dans la vie et permettez vous la paix d'esprit de savoir vos petits morveux bien emprisonnés à l'étage quand c'est requis.

No Good. This was our first return to Amazon.

This gets the distinct honour of being the first product I've ever returned to Amazon. Here's why: The installation is pretty easy, but using the gate wasn't. Despite everything being perfectly lined up and level, the gate was constantly catching on the locking mechanism when trying to unlock. And, because the gate's width isn't fixed (i.e. you can't properly set the width of the gate), closing the gate is always a two-hand task, often requiring multiple attempts to line up and lock both the top and bottom. The mounting hardware for banisters was great at first, but quickly loosened. Be prepared to screw this in if you keep it. Also, is is squeeky and loud. I'm sure you can help this with a little WD40, but we didn't bother because we aren't keeping it. We've owned two other baby gates, and I wish I could recall the brands to recommend them. Definitely weren't Regalo.

Sturdy Gate, Reasonable Price

This gate is plenty sturdy for my 70lb dog and future baby. Like other reviewers mentioned, it's not the easiest to close because you have to line up bottom and top latches independently. I don't mind too much for now though. I will update when I've used it a few times with a baby in my arms and a puppy trying to follow through. I love that it's not a tension gate and instead is secured with velcro straps or screws. This hardware provided is of questionable quality. Some of the velcro straps snapped at the seams while tightening. We replaced with cable ties. Dog chewed off another (not manufacturing fault but worth mentioning for folks considering this for dogs). We have since screwed the gate in place, however, two of the provided screws snapped while screwing into predrilled holes. I think do yourself a favor, just chuck the screws and use some you already have or from the hardware store. TL;DR Overall it's a good sturdy gate for a decent price, just the locking mechanism can be a little finicky and the provided hardware is of questionable quality.

Decent gate, but not really easy to operate

So we bought this gate because we needed something that would stretch along our open area in our front entrance. We needed something sturdy as our dog is able to get under the cloth ones that are out there. This looked decent, so we decided to try it. Firstly, this is extremely simple to install and comes with a really awesome tool. It has a bubble level on top of each pole that is attached to the walls. This is a really great feature as it allows you to level the pole easily without having to try to get a regular level put on the side. It makes for really hassle free installation. The screws and adjuster plates that came with it allow for quick installation as well. The gate fit perfectly and is very sturdy. You can adjust the length of the gate after opening it, and you don't even have to swing it out to adjust it. If you want to just slide through, open the gate and slide the gate to the side. It also comes with a little adjustable foot brace in the middle of the gate so there is no sagging. Now on to the bad part of this gate. This gate is extremely annoying to have to open and close. Rather than having a latch that can easily be opened and closed from the side, like that of a fence gate, you need to lift the entire gate and line up both the top and bottom pins to the corresponding holes in order to close the gate. Opening it is the same way, but opposite. You need to unlatch the lock and then lift the entire gate up so that the pins slide out of the holes. It's such an incredibly frustrating and poor design choice. Everything else about this gate is great, except this one really annoying part. Because the gate is metal and has no bend to it, it's a struggle to get the whole gate to bend so you can pull the pin out of the hole, especially when you are trying to do it one handed. Closing it is just as frustrating. Overall Impression: I want to give this a full 5 stars, because it really does everything we need it to do, but the open and close function of it are just too frustrating and annoying that I had to knock it down a few. It really would be a perfect gate if it wasn't for this small, but important, flaw. If they ever decided to change this design, I would gladly buy that gate. For now I will have to struggle with it because it's the only thing that fits. If you're looking for a sturdy gate to frustrate you every time you open and close it, this is the one.
