A must read review if you're looking to buy these like I did.
Day 1 and I put em right to the test. Let me start by saying that they do fit better than the comparable grey Carhartt shoes that I sent back for that very reason. These are, let's say, roomy but not too big. Plenty of room in the toe. Now, they may look like sneakers, but aren't as comfortable. Rocky has boots with better cushioned insoles, what gives? Anyway, I'm putting some Dr.Scholls gel inserts in mine asap That's my one complaint. My only other complaint is their claim of "waterproof". I'm a biiig fan of goretex, and I think Rocky should have gone for some with these (especially for the price). So I get em yesterday, wear em all day at work (they got more comfortable as the day went on), came home, took the dog for a walk in the field across the street where the big deep puddle is. (couldn't wait for this test!) Walked 100' through 2" deep water along the edge of the puddle with water coming well up the sides of the shoe, so far i think its going well and my feet are still dry, i think, then i stood in 3-4" deep water for 20 to 30 seconds covering the top of the shoes. That's when I wasn't sure for a minute if I felt the cold of the water or the wetness of the water. I know I was feeling something and saying to myself, "uh oh...." Results: some wetness along the very outsides of my feet. Some. Actually I was surprised at how dry my feet were for the most part given the tests I did and these being mesh shoes. Buuuut.... I could feel the cold and some of the wet along the outside edges of my feet, and then when I got home and pulled them off and felt Inside, sure enough, wet, right where the sides meet the soles, so, they're NOT "waterproof" god damn it. I'm a stickler and haaate wet feet. Now if you're walking through wet grass or if it's just raining you'll probably be fine. Just don't submerge your feet for an extended period of time which I'm sure these are not meant to do. But, I don't care what the hell they're "meant to do, don't say water PROOF, say "really really water resistant! " The traction is just fine. They feel sturdy and well built. I honestly wish Merrell would make a composite toe'd hiking shoe honestly. Now, if these were a little more comfy and truly 100% waterproof an easy 5 stars I'd have given. You can also read my review of the Carhartt shoes like these as I had them for about an hour. If you like my reviews please let Amazon know! Thanks and happy trails!

Great for work
This is the 2nd pair that I have purchased for my son. He liked the first pair for work so much, that he requested a 2nd pair. His lasted about 1 year.

blue collar man shoe
2 years later and these are a field tested and purchased again... I punished these boots and they kept up. I once worked in the rain for 4 hours on a roof and my socks stayed dry. I changed the insoles for better comfort. These shoes work great for protection how ever they dont breath very well. At work I walk 5 miles a day as an operating engineer and Im exposed to all kinds of hazards. Good product

Good comfortable shoe
Good comfortable shoe, really like that they are shoes but with the protective toe and waterproof. I can't really say to the arch support as I use a good insole to deal with my bad knees. But if these shoes last at least a year as my daily work shoe I will keep buying them. Edit 7/21/15: I really liked these shoes and wanted to keep them but I had lots of wear issues after a couple of months. The mesh near the back of the to ripped through and then the water proof membrane ripped there also letting water in. Earlier the rubber (seems like rubber material) on the toe wore through but I could live with that. Once they were no longer waterproof I ended up sending them back for a refund that took a couple weeks. Not a bad hiking boot but I was looking for something as a daily 'work' shoe that I would wear instead of boots in the summer months and these did not hold up.
