Works as advertised but not worth the premium
We have a black kitchen faucet, so I bought this to replace the silver button that came with my Insinkerator. The black finish is very matte, more so than the satin finish on my Hansgrohe faucet. But at this stage in our kitchen remodel we’re exhausted and it’s close enough that nobody but me will notice or care. The button and the donut trim around it are both metal, but the mechanism below is all plastic. This is the same as the Insinkerator, and according to my research all such air switches are plastic below the surface, even when advertised as metal. For this reason I don’t think this product is worth the premium: there are cheaper black switches out there that look very similar and operate identically. If you’re replacing an existing air switch then installation is easy and took about 20 mins (including emptying out the under-sink) with no tools needed, I just reached behind the sink and unscrewed the old switch by hand. I did need my wife to hold the switch from above while I hand-screwed the new one from above, otherwise it was a snap for even the most basic DIY’er.
