I have been searching…

I have a young boxer that loves to stick her head in the trash. She just pushes up the lid edge which hangs over the top of the can and stickers her entire head inside. It’s a Simple Human and it does have a lid lock but it’s a pain when my hands are full and I step on the foot pedal in the lid is locked. I have searched and searched for another can with a lid that is boxer proof. Let’s face it, I didn’t want to spend another ridiculous amount on a trash can that may or may not work. I knew I wanted the lid edge to be smooth with the rest of the can and hard to lift, and I liked the idea of the butterfly lid, but did not want auto open because Penny is smart and she would learn how to open that in one day. Enter this can. Albeit too expensive, but I was desperate at this point and it’s black stainless so it matches my kitchen appliances. It arrived today and appeared to be handled with care. I was so impressed when I felt the weight of it and tested the foot pedal to make it open. Success! Penny will no longer be stealing empty yogurt cups from the garbage. I hope it’s longevity is as impressive as it’s first impression.

Our Kitchen Superstar

The size and position of its opening is well designed. Loved how it’s door split opens and shuts. The inner bin conveniently has a hole to allow for our standard trash bags to sit inside perfectly. Sleek design with its steel shell that houses a plastic inner bin. It is a hands down great investment.

This trashcan is amazing - especially if you have dogs

Although pricey, this trashcan is amazing. Not only is it aesthically pleasing and just really nice, my dog, who previously mastered all other trashcan lids (even with a lock), cannot get into this trash can. The lid top is flush, which also means you cannot open it without using the pedal. My dog, a repeat trash can raider, grew tired of this flush lid trash can after about one day and never even pursued the trash can again. Very grateful, results may vary, but I highly recommend.

Better Than SimpleHuman

I bought the Elite Slim dark stainless version with the manual pedal on one end. It arrived just fine, double boxed for protection. The first thing I noticed was that it's quite heavy- and that's due to a solid build quality. It opens and closes easily. The pedal action is smooth and quiet with no loose jiggles of any kind. The butterfly type opening is wide and makes dropping things in a breeze. There's a solid inner plastic liner that your bag goes into, unlike the SimpleHuman Sensor Cans I have, so you should never have a mess in the main can. I'm not sure when trash cans got turned into pricey items like they are, but for $20-40 dollars less than the SimpleHuman equivalent this is a better deal and the overall construction is as good or better. Time will tell and if anything goes south I'll update my review to reflect it.

The ferrari of trash cans

I don’t see how it could get any nicer. This is so well made ans looks fantastic. Much better than the simple human version. The slow close feature is fantastic. Fits my 13 gallon costco bags flawlessly.
