Awesome looking shoe, but too big
You can tell that this is a well-made shoe, but I wear in 11 in women’s and went with the nine in men’s, it just didn’t seem to have that snug fit that I need for hiking in the woods.

My wife's favorite shoes at the moment
Winter is coming, so I had to get her another pair of the Goretex version. Before the Salomons, she solely wore Asics running shoes. She's on her feet all day and swore by them. But now, it's Salomons. No complaints whatsoever about her feet. Women, get this line of shoes on your husband's Amazon feed. Constantly. He'll take a look at some point. Fellas, sorry. But forgo that new tool accessory and just get a pair of these for her. You won't regret it.

Excellent trail hiking shoes.
This is my first purchase of either a trail running shoe or the Salomon brand. I purchased them for hiking in the Teton mountain area. I was beyond impressed with these shoes! My first thought when trying them on were that they felt a little big. But when I put on my hiking socks and walked in them, they were actually spot on as far as size. They have "aggressive" treads on them. We did some hiking in rain/mud going over rocks and up and down hills. These shoes performed excellently. I never slipped. Speaking of wet and mud, I got pretty deep in some areas. In spite of the rain, my feet stayed dry and I was astonished that after nearly burying my foot in mud, after a quick walk through tall grass on the way back to the car there was virtually no mud on my shoes. The photos I'm sharing are AFTER wearing these shoes in two different mud situations and without any extra cleaning effort on my part aside from walking through grass. Very Impressed! Comfort is a big deal for me. I work on my feet and have had to have surgery in the past to relieve foot pain. I did not experience any pain from these shoes. They offered great support. I did not experience the muscle fatigue in my feet and legs that comes from compensating for ill-fitting shoes. My first impression, putting them on in my living room, was that they were not very cushioned. But out on the trails, I found them to be quite comfortable. The treads themselves seem to absorb much of the shock. I appreciate that this shoe is offered in a larger size. I searched several brands and there are very few that offer a Women's size 12. I've had to buy men's shoes in the past and it's hard when shopping online to know which men's size to try and they are, of course, styled toward men's fashion. Overall, these shoes far surpassed my expectations. Especially when the heavy rain started. Well worth the money spent.

Supportive and as described
Being that I am not "twenty-something" anymore, having supportive, comfortable, functional shoes with traction has proven to be of importance for me as I age. I am very active, but was frequently slipping or having discomfort when I would exercise. These Salomon's exceeded my expectations such far. Fit as per my size and not one ounce of discomfort, rubbing, tightness or anything picking at my feet, even when I wear without socks. No pain from rocks through the sole and footbed completely supports my archs and achilles. The traction is fantastic. I am looking forward to seeing how these perform when the conditions are snowy/icy. The Goretex works for my feet as my feet run cold, so they do not overheat my feet. I am not sure if I always had hot feet if they would be too warm...? These are pricey, but in my opinion, "you get what you pay for!" They have been worth the price for me.

Excellent, Size down.
Somehow I lucked out and got them for $60! After reading reviews I sized a whole size down and glad I did. I purposely stepped in puddles and my feet were dry. And I tried them with thicker socks ???? to see how they work with an ankle cut shoe & it was very comfy. I think they offer great support for my feet as I can wear them for the entire day and my feet don’t feel tired afterwards. Great grip in the rain & mud. I haven’t worn them long enough to see any rips or problems with quality (1 month) but I’m taking them to the Rockies so will do another review after I put them through hell.

The fit is true to size
I read the reviews (sometimes conflicting) about size. I can take a 6.5 in some brands, but usually need a 7. I tried the non-GTX version (purchased by mistake and returned) and those were slightly too roomy without socks (just tights). These GTX ones feel very slightly smaller, but still fit, and I suspect will give because they are well padded. If you want to wear thick socks from the start, maybe go a half size up. But they are padded and warm enough to get away with thin socks anyway. In all other respects they seem great. Comfortable from the start, light but robust, and they allow a good heel to toe gait with push-off from the grippy sole coming slightly up the toe. Perfect for hiking in a warm country (which is what I wanted them for) or the UK (unless you're going into boggy terrain or through deeper water!).

Size, super heel, comfort, fit
The picture does not do it justice. I got black, it fits true to 7.5 but if you use "thick socks" go up a half size. Otherwise i have a normal foot, but need to wear them to stretch a tiny bit. A half size more is too big for me. if you have a high arch, edema water swelling, or wide foot, go up a full size. I wore the Salomon Trail Runner shoe all day, no hurt feet and it is great gripper sole, Gortex, thin laces, cushioned height heal that is like walking on air. So comfortable. The sole is aggressive so it is anti-slip too. Like a gripper sole. Definitely not clunky. With the added sole heal height it is nice for the legs and back comfort too. I need a shoe horn to slide into the runner but no big deal. The tongue has a pull up tab but the heel needs a shoe horn, works better. Seniors need to sit down and use a shoe horn but they would love these too. They are not slip on kind of runner. Now I recommend nurses, doctors, workers and retail persons, hikers, snow walkers and anyone who wants an aggressive raised slight heel and cushion sole for long hours of comfort to try these. I highly recommend them as inside support and soft ground connection with the Orthopedic heal height. You won't even notice it. One super great runner or mountain trail hiker. I think myself that i made a good decision to buy them and with no regrets. I can wear them to town with jeans and no winter boots. Bonus. Or go for a hike in the snow and no wet feet. I had them on 9 hours and no sore feet. i had a runner like this years back and it cost me over $300.00 then.

Brilliant trail shoes
My old Speedcross 4s finally gave up the ghost after 3 years. They owed me nothing! So I decided to replace them and had a dilemma. New Speedcross 4s were available immediately but there was a wait on the Speedcross 5's I decided to wait for the new Speedcross 5s and I am so glad that I did. They are slightly wider and more padded than the Speedcross 4 and the extra comfort is truly amazing. I had to size up a 1/2 size to accommodate the narrow fit of the 4's and did the same for the 5's but it was not necessary. The 5's have the same amazing grip when running. Just back from a 10k across the Brecon Beacons and the shoes were so good I have been moved to write this review! I got the waterproof shoes as I hate wet feet, but there are pros and cons on waterproof v non-waterproof I suggest you go with whatever you prefer.
