Perfect for transfers between car (4 door sedan) and wheelchair
This Sammons board arrived 2 days ago and I'm in love with it. The 35 inch transfer board bridges the wide gap between front car seat (driver) and my wheelchair. I have 2 plastic sliding boards by other manufacturers, and at 30 inches (which most boards are), they are too short to cover the distance in/out of car and wheelchair. This one is well-made: sturdy and smooth on surface as well as edges. I was afraid it might be too heavy for me (female 5'4, 150 lbs) because I have to manage it without any help-- but it's easy to pick up, manuever, and not too heavy. The two open slots are very handy and useful and help distribute the weight of it. I am able to place in the back seat of my car once I'm through transferring or pull it to front seat for use after I park. The price seems kind of high, but I could not find a substitute that was 35" long (had briefly entertained a DIY board from garage (with thick vinyl covering the board) but in the end, decided that it was just easier and faster to order this one. I am very satisfied with it.

I needed a longer board and that is exactly what this is - PERFECT
My car door does not open far enough to get a wheelchair close enough to the car to be able to use a shorter board to get someone in and out of the car. I was starting to get back pains lifting this person in and out when I realized that they probably make a longer board and that is exactly what this is. It works perfectly, it is smooth, it is good looking. I am not sure if all boards have the two cutout in different directions but this has saved me a few times. As this person was sliding the board shifted and was coming off the wheelchair. I immediately grabbed the board by the cut out and held it there until they slid across. I did not have to lift this person (although I could have) by holding the slot. I have had to make sure it did not shift. Without the slot the persons weigh is pushing the board into the chair (even if it is sliding) and the only way to get your hand under the end of the board is when the board is no longer on the chair (and most likely the person is in the car or has fallen to the ground)

Good solid product
Longer than the usual size, and sometimes you need that. This provides a bit more for such as getting into a car from wheelchair. Not overly heavy in weight either. Recommend!

Very nice. But pricey.
Nice board. Very long. I refrain from giving a 5-star rating because for just a few more inches of board, they certainly charged a premium. If you need the extra length, buy it because you won't find another one.

Pricey & needs a harder surface finish
These boards are pretty pricey for what they are. It's a piece of 3/8" thick 'Baltic birch plywood, tapered at both ends. There are 2 hand openings, cut at 90° opposing angles to reach other, located ~7" grim each end of the board, which work quite well. The board work well enough, though some sort of textured material at one end would be a welcome addition. The ends easily slide on slick surfaces, e.g., shower chairs, toilets, etc. One side needs to slide underneath you easily, but the opposing side's lack of friction can be quite dangerous. I've been spilled onto the ground by this lack of adhesion. The surface finish is easily dinged up in everyday use. Also, their latest board has been shortened by one inch over previous boards.

It is a damn good transfer board
It does not have the final touches on to make it where you can slide real easy so other than that it is what I wanted thank you

Sturdy slide board
Wooden bariactric slide board for transfer. It did the job. Was not a pleasant slide.
