In 1982, Franck Raoul-Duval, a 25-year-old Frenchman with a passion for dance and Russian history, created a new type of ballet shoe. After numerous trials and adjustments, he came up with an innovation that changed the lives of dancers everywhere. The split-sole ballet slipper, with its glove-like fit, was born. Sansha now manufactures an extensive range of dance shoes for everything from ballet to jazz, hip-hop to flamenco, and ballroom to tap. Love these jazz boots, I use them all the time for Bachata, Salsa and other dance practice
Love, love, love these jazz shoes- sometimes in good ( non-rainy weather) I will wear them to ballroom and latin dance practice instead of changing into them at the studios--- wish they were everyday street wear and rain-proof/ water-proof etc so that I could wear them in all kinds of weather- will definitely buy again and a second and third back up pair too.

My Review
I’m a dancer in a high school marching band! i don’t have any pictures with them on but it looks just like the display! the size do run small, i wear a 5 and ordered a 7 and they fit perfectly! very slippery at first but just scrap them on concrete and you’re good to go!

Perfect affordable addition to my Renaissance Faire costume!
These shoes look great, they're comfy. All I have to do is cut off the branding tags and they'll be perfect for my days at the Faire. They are so comfortable, I've been wearing them around the house all day! I'm so glad I looked into alternative shoes... authentic costume boots from a specialty shop would have been extremely costly. The soles seem sturdy. There isn't any reinforced protection for the uppers or sides of the feet. The material is simple, plain cotton cloth with no stretch (again, perfect for my needs). Should work fine for wide feet, they can be laced tight or loose as desired. I would recommend waterproofing prior to wearing outdoors in wet conditions. You do have to be careful with the size. I'm normally women's 8-8.5, so I was going to buy a 9. Out of an abundance of caution, I went with a 10 thinking I could always stuff the toes if they were a little too long. These fit perfectly!

Buy bigger than you normally do
Love these, comfortable. I wear an 8.5 normally, these I wear an 11. No support but light and comfortable for dance

Comfortable, but not durable
Extremely comfortable shoe. I use them for practice all of the time. I treat them with stain guard so I can keep them clean. However, they are not durable and I have to order a new pair every 5-6 months.

Nice little boot, but runs (2 sizes) small
I never wear a 12 in ANYTHING, but I had to get one in this boot. Most of my street shoes are a 9-1/2 or 10 in women's. I knew from other reviews that this boot ran small, but I had no idea. Initially, I ordered an 11, but they crowded my toes, so I had to send them back and get the size 12. They are very comfortable boots. The fabric is tougher than it looks. I dance a lot, but I purchased them as a nankeen-look boot for my Regency-era clothing. With different strings, they worked wonders. Since they have a split sole, I would not recommend wearing them outside if it is damp, rainy or muddy. The pads on the toe and heel wore well in the areas where I was walking, which was mostly in short grass and on paved sidewalks. I did put a removable insole in the shoe before I wore them, to provide extra cushioning. If I was going to regularly wear these in areas of dirt and/or grass, I would definitely take them to a cobbler to have a leather sole professionally stitched on, but for sidewalks and limited walking, the regular sole did fine. In packing, they squish down to almost nothing, and you can stash them in your purse or bag. As a side note, I did end up dancing in these boots, and they worked great. Nice flex and point.

NOT true to size
Ordered a women’s size 11 and they’d MAYBE fit a size 6. Definitely size up!

Sizing was hard to judge
Used the sizing chart and tried to follow peoples recommendations but the shoes were way too small on my first attempt. Thankfully amazon is awesome and I returned them and ordered a larger size and while they still fit a tad small they will do. Hard to find this style of shoe elsewhere and the size options are pretty limited. So FYI, I normally wear a size 9 womens street shoe, and the size 10 is still a bit snug for me.

Nice pair of jazz shoes
I love it! I wear women 10, but I bought women 13 after reading all the reviews and suggestions. The size is perfect for me (so it's 3 sizes up)! The material is soft and comfortable. I would definitely recommend to my friends! Very beautiful jazz shoes! Excellent quality! The price is ok.

Black Shoe Dye Stains Carpet
When I tried on this jazz shoe, the black shoe dye on the sole ruined our light colored carpet simply by stepping on it. I have no idea why this shoe isn't colorfast, but the carpet stain is impossible to remove. Shoes were returned.
