Great for use in urban and rural locations, during boil alerts or in other emergencies when safe drinking water is compromised, the lightweight TAP Water Filter from Sawyer ensures access to clean drinking water. It's an ideal component to add to your emergency preparedness kit for use during natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, fires, and earthquakes. Simply attach the filter to a standard faucet tap or to a hose bib spigot, turn on the water, and filter into your clean container. The TAP can be used to filter up to 500 gallons per day to an incredibly clean 0.1-micron standard. The small lightweight TAP features a 0.1-micron absolute filter that removes 99.99999% of bacteria (salmonella, cholera, and E. coli), 99.9999% of protozoa (cryptosporidium and giardia), and 100% of microplastics — exceeding EPA recommendations for removal rates. The Sawyer TAP Water Filter is a great choice for relief agencies or support groups traveling to areas where the water source is compromised or in question, or when you need ultra-pure particle and bacteria filtration. It's also great for use at campgrounds, festivals, events, in RVs, and for domestic and international travel. Chemicals, electricity, and batteries are not required. The inline filter fits tap size 17mm to 20mm (11/16" to 3/4"); hose bibs (garden hose spigot); and some (not all) faucet aerators. Included with the Sawyer TAP filter is a backwash adapter, threaded spigot adapter, dual threaded adapter, tap gauge, and a 2-foot-long extension hose for use in a shallow sink. Since 1984, Sawyer has used technological advancements to create products that keep you outdoors — from the backcountry to the backyard — including insect repellents for both skin and clothing, water filters for camping and emergencies, and sun protection.

Yummy Water
I live kinda remotely so I keep a backup water supply just in case I lose my well or electricity to run the well pump. My daily water tastes fine as long as it goes through my treating system. But lose that and the taste is not the greatest. I’ve used Sawyer filters for years for backpacking and camping. But this one allows you to collect a lot of water in a short period of time. You don’t have to worry about bacteria, E Coli, salmonella giardia, etc. If you keep up with the news, we are now drinking and eating micro plastics as well as the “forever chemicals” (PFAs). Sawyer takes care of the micro plastics but not the PFAs, nor heavy metals, arsenic, lead, much less taste and odor. You really need a carbon filter to take care of all of that crap. So I buy the Platypus Carbon Element here on Amazon and place it inline but downstream of the Sawyer filter. (See photo as example of setup) What you get is some of the best tasting water you’ve ever had. You can forget about buying bottled water anymore. I highly recommend this setup to anyone and everyone.

Works well
I have been using Sawyer filters for years during backpacking journeys. I find them lightweight, durable, easy to back flush, and always works. So when I got an opportunity to live in a foreign city for six months, I bought the TAP water filter to make sure the water was free of bacteria and other bugs. I also learned that chlorine and bad tasting water was a secondary problem. So I paired the Sawyer filter with the Platypus Gravity Works charcoal filter. Together I am enjoying safe, clean and good tasting water. Note: the Platypus charcoal filter is listed as being good for 300 liters, so it will have to eventually be replaced. Hats off to Sawyer for another great filter idea. They even thought to include an outdoor faucet adapter in the event that the kitchen sink faucet design can’t accommodate the filter.

Wait for version 2.0
I've been using Sawyer water filters for camping and fly fishing outings for years. When I saw that Sawyer had a filter expressly for a faucet, I ordered it since my city has issued three boil water notices during the past 15 months. I don't know where Sawyer figures their target market is, but it ain't America. As almost every review notes, the filter slip over a STANDARD kitchen or bathroom faucet aerator. So I planned ahead a ordered a converter for a STANDARD faucet thread (55/64”- 27 )to a male 3/4" GHT (garden hose thread). Search Amazon for "DANCO Multi-Thread Garden Hose Adapter". Sawyer includes an adapter that screws onto the male GHT on one end and a spout on the other end that fits the filter. Yup, it all works fine but even with low water flow out of the faucet, the connection leaks and some contaminated water may end up in your storage container. So now find the included adapter and hose. Screw the adapter onto the outflow side of the filter and connect the hose to the nipple on the adapter. Stick the hose into your storage container. The problem with this product is the "one size fits all" rubber slipover input end of the filter. It doesn't fit over common/standard faucet aerators and even if it did, it will wear with use allowing an eventual leak or get damaged by accident. The filter is then useless. The slipover design even leaks with their included GHT adapter. Wait for version 2.0 where the water input end is improved.

Brilliant idea but needs some work before even close to a “universal fit”
I love the idea of this filter and I think they’re truly on to something but unfortunately the only spigot in 4 different houses that this worked on was the outside sign it (which is 99% universal). This did not work for 12 different indoor spigots and all have different sink necks.

good
does just what it says - filtering polluted city water in a majority-world country = drinking water!

Saved us during boil water event--fits hose bib perfectly
Bought this after the 2021 freeze in Texas and stashed it away. The 2022 freeze did not have us lose electricity or water but our city had a boil water notice due to a problem at the plant, totally unrelated to the freeze, but at the tail end of it. I found this filter and while it did not fit any of our inside faucets (because we have weird modern fixtures with no regular screw in opening) it fit the hose bib perfectly and I was able to get us all the very clean water we needed for us and the pets. So happy to have had this even though I didn't need it for a full year after purchase.

Broke after one use, terrible customer service.
I used the filter once and it broke. I tried using it on the standard hose threaded fitting and it wouldn't fit because the thread was too shallow. Not a big deal, I decided to use it on the sink - this seemed a bit snug but it seemed like the size was correct. The rubber delaminated from the plastic when I pushed it on after one use. Customer service asked me for a photo of the faucet and I told them I no longer have access to faucet as it was not my house. So? Sawyer doesn't message me back. I messaged them after a month and they said they were waiting for photos. I told them I can't get photos (I mean realistically I could have just lied) and asked if there's anything they could do? No response back after waiting another two months. Anyway, maybe they would have said it's not under warranty sorry or something I would have been less critical, but to just ignore me for like 6 months now? Poor service. Go with another brand.

Does not do what is described in the adverts.
Took one of these to the Philippines to try out. Water came out of the tap registering 696ppm. Put the Sawyer water filter on the tap expecting great results. Water came out of the filter at 691ppm. The water was still unsafe & undrinkable!

Engineering failure of Sawyer to attach the blue sealing lip to the filter
I do not like, that Sawyer willingly designed in the blue sealing lip to the filter and does not keep this on a separate adapter - which is the weak point of the Filter. Once this sensitive sealing lip is damaged you can throw away the filter. In my eyes the standard use case is to mount it on standard of the standard of the standard 3/4 connection (and to have from there the adapter with the blue sealing lip). I do not like that Sawyer provides this design obviously to protect it from competitors.

Well recommended!!!
From all the research I did on water filters, Sawyer filters were always at the top of the list. I was a bit surprised at how small this filter is, but if it works, that's all that matters.
