Equilibrium™ is specifically designed to establish the ideal mineral content for the planted aquarium. Equilibrium™ contains no sodium or chloride (which can be detrimental to a planted aquarium at elevated levels). Equilibrium™ is ideally suited for use with RO (reverse osmosis) or DI (deionized) water or any mineral deficient water. Equilibrium™ raises the essential mineral/electrolyte content (General Hardness) of the water to balance with and promote stability of the carbonate hardness. To maintain KH, we recommend Alkaline Buffer™. Unlike competing products, Equilibrium contains NO SODIUM CHLORIDE. Both sodium and chloride are not rapidly depleted elements in a planted aquarium, and, in the case of chloride, can do more harm than good. Competitors’ products generally contain primarily sodium chloride (because it is inexpensive), which will raise the electrolyte levels for fish, but can be detrimental to plant growth. In addition, sodium is not a contributing cation to GH levels. Equilibrium™ contains only calcium, magnesium, and potassium salts, which aid in fish metabolism, but are also highly beneficial to plant growth. Equilibrium guaranteed analysis and symptoms of deficiency

DIRECTIONS: To raise mineral content/general hardness (GH) by 1 meq/L (3 dH), add 16 g (1 tablespoon) for every 80 L (20 US gallons) when setting up an aquarium or when making water changes (add to new water). It is normal for this product not to dissolve right away and it will not harm the tank. It will dissolve over the course of about 12 hours. BALANCE: Equilibrium raises the essential mineral/electrolyte content (General Hardness) of the water to balance with and promote stability of the carbonate hardness. SUITED FOR: Equilibrium is preferably suited for use with RO (reverse osmosis) and DI (deionized) water or any mineral deficient water. EQUILIBRIUM: Does not contain sodium or chloride (which can be detrimental to a planted aquarium at elevated levels). MINERALS: Equilibrium is specifically designed to establish the optimal mineral content for the planted aquarium. When this mixture is added to the aquarium it will impart a slight haze that should clear within 15–30 minutes.

Great re-mineralizer for my betta tank
I use distilled water which is obviously too soft (lacks minerals) and needed something to make my tank water suitable for my betta fish. This was simple to use and measurement instructions are accurate. Make sure to dissolve in enough water so that you don’t have residual falling to bottom of your tank. Mix well before adding and it works perfectly. My betta is happy = I’m happy. I highly recommend this seachem equilibrium for freshwater tanks.

How to prepare discus water
Per 10gallon of RODI water: 1 teaspoon Equilibrium, will give GH of 8-9 deg. Mix well. Add 1 teaspoon Alkaline Buffer, will give KH of 6-8 deg. Mix well. Add 5/8 teaspoon (just over half a teaspoon) Acid Buffer, will give pH of ~6.7. Mix well. Add 1/2 capful (2.5mL) Discus Trace Add 2 pumps Brightwell Blackwater extract . Age 24 hours with airstone and heater before water change.

Make sure to test GH when using this product
I initially bought this because I was having problems with my well water and was having to go to the store and buy RO water for my tanks. I used this to put minerals back into the water to keep my tanks healthy. I ended up continuing to use it because I started using a water softener with my well water. The one thing I’ll say about this is that you need to consider the fish you have in your tanks rather than the directions on the package. When I used the directions my GH went sky high, which wasn’t good for my bettas. Now I use 1/16 to 1/8 of a teaspoon for my 5 and 10 gallon tanks to maintain around a 4-5 GH. My two 3 gallon tanks take just a pinch and even then they get up around 6 GH. So make sure you’re testing your GH when using this to keep your tanks within the parameters for your specific fish.

dose lightly and retest
i have insanely soft water. like, 0 GH & 0 KH from the tap. it does what it should, but I've learned to dose the tank lightly (based on estimated total actual water volume) and make very small adjustments as needed. the first time i used it in my new large display tank i must have underestimated the volume of substrate and hardscape because holy moly, i was up past 10°GH on the next test (i was shooting for 3-5 based on label instructions)

Essential additive for soft water
My treated local water is too soft for aquarium fish. This product helped my fish thrive

It works
All our water runs through a water softener, which then comes out of the tap with a high KH, but only 1 dGH. My plants and snails were suffering, and eventually the fish probably would have too. I add 1 tsp of Equilibrium to every 4 gallon bucket of water I put in the tank when doing water changes. I just swoosh it around while the bucket is filling to mix it in. My dGH now tests at 6-7 dGH reliably. The snails are growing healthy shells again, and my plant growth is much improved. Adding some crushed coral in the canister filters will also help keep GH steady in between changes as well.

Wish I had found this sooner!
I changed to RO water for my aquarium due to high natural nitrates in my tap water. I didn't realise the adverse effect on plants using RO - they were all going yellow. Since using this my plants are healthy and my fish seem happier less lethargic too. Balance of my tank has been restored

aquarium water stability
Easy to use. Every time I change the water I use a dose of stabilizer. This makes it possible for water changes to be less frequent.

Fast delivery and works great
Delivery was very fast, just a couple of days. Product stabilized RO water at around 6 dGH, the water was a little cloudy and yellowish but it disappeared after about an hour or so. I really recommend this product to add to your RO water to remineralize it.

Great product, goes a long way!
Speedy service, exactly as described. I was having major issues with ph swings from my tap water causing plants to perish. I now get RO water from my local fish store and use this before it goes into the tank and I now have healthy lush plant growth!!
