Best option
Finally fixed the annoying hammering on the washer. Yes I could have bought another pre made arrestor but they don’t last and are expensive. This way I can service myself.

Not wanting to sweat copper on an existing inline retrofit, I took a chance on Sharkbite. Any skepticism was unwarranted as the connection is perfectly dry and secure months later.

Simple
Easy installation. This slip fitting is aimed a adding a Tee to an existing run of pipe where the ability to move the pipe is limited. Turn the water off, cut out a small section of pipe - up to 2". Clean off any burrs. Mark both pipes with the insertion depth either with the special tool or with a ruler. Push the slip end of the fitting over one half of the pipe. It takes a little force but not much if it is aligned straight. Push it on just far enough to allow the other pipe in to the other end of the fitting. Do not push the fitting all the way up against a stud or joist as you won't be able to get the tool in to release it! Use the included plastic tool to push on the slip end of the fitting to release the teeth so you can slide the fitting up to the insertion mark you made on the other part of the pipe. There is also a release tool that clamps against the teeth release and the fitting - this is easier to use and can fit in a smaller space. Screw in your other fitting in to the 3rd port. Or you can preassemble it before attaching to the pipework. I used PTFE tape and a little pipe sealant on the male thread. Turn the water back on and check for leaks. It takes longer to type up than to install.

Well Made, Easy to Install
This slip fitting allows you to add it to an existing run of pipe where there is limited ability to displace the pipe to fit a regular fitting in. It comes with the plastic horseshoe device that you need to push on the end of the fitting to retract the teeth and allow it to slip. When installing be sure to leave enough space so you can fit this tool in. There are also disconnect tongs available which are easier to use and can be used in areas with less clearance to the end of the fitting. Be sure to deburr the end of your pipes so the O rings aren't damaged to avoid leaks.

Plumber wanted $600 for a repair that this easily solved for a few bucks. I did it myself with 0 experience.

Works great, easy install.
Save your time and worry by just getting a SharkBite. Sure, you can sweat your own copper, but for the non-professionals, this system works so well, so fast it isn't worth the hassle. Zero leaks This slip-tee was a bit tricky to get it to slide for the final step of installation, but eventually I got the hang of it.

Best Way to Tap Into Copper Line
Easily tapped into a 3/4" copper line. Used a 3/4" MNPT to 1/2" pex adapter to connect a 1/2 pex line. Went together quick and easy with no soldering. Did it while the copper was still wet!

Work saver
Did what I had to do with this part (needed for the installation of expansion tank). Saved a lot of time and hassle - guaranteed.
