What a Hassle Getting This End Table

First, there were CRAZY numerous issues getting this end table delivered. When it finally did arrive, box was broken open and ripped. The tracks for the slide top was broken. The staining looked like a toddler painted it. There were scratches. The style/look/dimensions of the table itself was exactly what I'd been searching a long time for. Despite all the imperfections it is a great table. I kept it because returning it was WAY too much trouble plus this same table from Amazon was considerably cheaper than any furniture store that I'd seen it at and even cheaper than buying from Ashley direct. I guess you get what you pay for. Outlets and USB ports work well. Because of the broken tracks, the LAPTOP WORKSTATION with a sliding tabletop just flies open when you as much as brush past the table. I spent MANY HOURS with Amazon Customer Service trying to rectify shipping and damage issues and did not get satisfactory resolution, but as I said it was cheaper than if I'd bought elsewhere.

I didnt give 5 stars because some of the corners are peeling which I didn't notice until it was two days after the return date. Otherwuse the piece is beatiful.

I don't know who dropped the ball on these reviews but some of them appear to be for something like an entertainment table and those aren't very complimentary. My wife and I ordered the coffee table that matches these end tables first just to see the quality. It was VERY impressive so we ordered the end tables but almost didn't based on erroneous reviews. Then on re-reading I realized they were for the wrong table. I teach carpentry at our locale high school and I often have students build tables because they are moderately difficult so I can recognize quality construction. These tables are very well constructed, very solid, and properly treated will last a long time. The construction is a combination of solid wood and high grade plywood. There is NO particle board in the construction. Contrary to what some have indicated I found a very high quality and evenly coated finish on the coffee table and the two end tables. No missed spots and no light spots. The drawers on all three tables are constructed using dovetail joinery. If you are unfamiliar with this joinery it is an old world joinery that is almost indestructible. The drawer bottoms are high quality wood, not the cardboard insets you would normally find in this price range. Almost for got to say they designed for very easy assembly which took me about 15 minutes for both tables. Now some of you are probably asking why, if he is that qualified in constructing tables does he not build his own? You spend a full eight hours with teenagers in a shop field with tools that can maim and kill in an instant and see if you really feel like working in your own shop after hours. Don't get me wrong, I love my job but it can be nerve racking. Add all that to the fact that I have priced these tables per material required and time invested and I could not build these to this standard of quality for the price paid here.

Had a few problems.

Item shipped really fast. Box was beat to hell to the point UPS driver wanted to open box on delivery to make sure table wasn't damaged. Table was packed well with Styrofoam but table had 2 gouges in top edge of table (1 in front edge, 1 on side). I took possession of table anyway. Top front of table opened hard and made loud "nails on chalkboard" sound because bottom of top was scraping wood frame below it. Took top off and sanded board with belt sander to fix it. Front pull down tray with electric plug ins doesn't work quite right and is not very well designed or useful. To make it a little more useful I drilled a hole into table compartment to plug in my laptop so I don't have to pull it open anymore anyway. The table as designed has storage area under the pull open top that is the width of the table by about 10 1/2 inches square. There is approx. 8 more inches of unused dead space than could be used if designed slightly different. I took an oscillating tool and cut the back out of the interior storage space and glued a 1/4 inch piece of plywood to the floor, this changed the interior dimensions from 10 1/2 inch by 17 1/2 inch square to 18 1/2 by 17 1/2 inch square. Other than mentioned above table seems well made and is solid. A little larger than I expected. Table is similar in looks and construction to bedroom furniture by Ashley I have. Manufactured in Vietnam.

Very sturdy. Easy to assemble. Beautiful wood.

Definitely buy again if ever needed to. These look like they will last a lifetime. I bought two.

true to the picture apart from the flaw in wood was delivered in a reasonable time frame.

There was a flaw in the wood on top of the table. The table was received on Friday, October 21 not October 17. However, I was still pleased that the table was what I ordered and did match the coffee and was identical to the other end table, except for the flaw.
