This item is very convenient, works well, and can hold up shoes in each individual compartment that are of size 13M, at least. To fit my 13M sized sneakers in the compartment, I do have to put the shoes one on top of the other. They cannot fit side-by-side, as shown in the images for this product...clearly, the images shown are of smaller-sized shoes. I have been using this for s few weeks now, for my shoes, kids shoes, and wife's shoes, and this is the best solution for shoe storage that we have found to-date ( we do live in a 2bedroom apartment, so with 2 toddlers and 1 child, you can imagine!) Unpacking: very easy to unpack, but has a bad, plastic odor when you first open it. I, therefore, left mine out in very intense sunlight for 3 to 4 days, turning it once per day to get that smell out. I brought it back into my home when I was satisfied that most of that smell was gone. If you are concerned about introducing more chemicals into you home's air, airing it out for several days in strong sunlight should be ok for most people. Installing the item was easy to attach to the door however I found the brackets were a little too large for our door. Our door is about 1 inch in thickness. If your door is about 1 3/4 of an inch in thickness it might be a perfect fit. In our case, the bracket sits at an angle to the frame of the door and so the door doesnt close properly. If I was not as lazy as I am, I could find an easy solution to this problem, but I guess i'd rather spend my time writing this review. What I reallly like about this storage option is that it is out of the way (I have ours hanging on the inside of the door), and conveniently stores the shoes out of sight when the door is closed....fyi, the door we hand it off of is the washing machine and dryer "room"/cupboard, or whatever that small storage space is called. OK, if you need to store shoes, and you have a door where you can conveniently hang this thing, out of site, just go ahead and buy it and stop easting all you time reading reviews on here. Time = money, as they say. Speaking of which, it's back to procrastinating for me!
