Stainless steel 18-8 cotter pin fastens material together, similar to a staple or rivet, by locking clevis pins, slotted nuts, and other fasteners. The general-purpose 18-8 stainless steel type resists corrosion in a range of applications. Pin has two easy-to-open prongs, with one longer than the other. Stainless steels are used for their corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, scaling resistance, and low-temperature toughness. These properties account for their wide use in practically every industry. Stainless steel 18-8 denotes 18% chromium and 8% nickel. A cotter pin is a metal fastener with two prongs that are bent during installation. Typically made of wire with a half-circular cross section, cotter pins may be used in some applications as low-tech shear pins.

Alot of pins

Needed a few for a project, could not find locally. Bought these and worked well. Will have a good supply left on hand.

Bags do not have full count

I've bought several of these bags of 100 cotter pins for a manufacturing project that requires me to make batches of 100 finished products at a time. Each bag of these cotter pins I've bought was short one pin -- only 99 in each bag -- which is mildly annoying but important if you need a full 100. Amazon did refund me $2.00 for the shortage but I just wish the bags came with the amount that was advertised instead.

perfect size

this is size for Echo edger blade and worked perfect. I buy bulk blades at quarter of price and they don't come with the cotter pin so when I need to replace I have them now. perfect size for the hole.

It's stainless. It's a cotter pin. It fit the hole, was affordable, and solved my problems. What more can you want? OK, if they were polished to a fare-thee-well they would be prettier... Did I mention that it's a cotter pin?

Not much to say about a cotter pin. Great price, seem to all be good quality steel, arrived on time. They were actually too small for my application but that's my own fault for not bothering to measure.
