Bad Batteries
Both batteries were dead.

Good inexpensive product but the manual could be better.
When I first got it the heart rate monitor wouldn't work and seemed to be off. After some trial and error i found: If you are on the Chronograph screen and it displays "???? off" you can get it to switch to "????on" by pressing and holding both the 'ST/SP/+' button and the 'NEXT/SAVE/-' at the same time for a few seconds. Once I did that the heart rate monitor worked. Unless I'm missing it this doesn't seem to be in the provided manual. - 1 star... also the reset button only seems to work the light but not reset the timer. but I found a workaround (hold save, select 'no', hold save) so that's a minor problem. Otherwise this product is exactly what I expected. An inexpensive heart rate monitor that beeps at me when i go outside of my target heart rate zone. No app or phone required.

I really wanted to like this item
I really wanted to like this item. I bought it when my Sportline Heart Rate monitor got water in the case. I was excited about the large face and the style of the Pyle PHRM76. I liked the cool green color. I imagined that it would be a fine replacement for my Sportline. My disappointment was with few features- or lack of them- on the Pyle PHRM76. Here they are: -the band and buckle on the watch seem sort of flimsy. If you will be regularly wearing it and working out with it I can see that it may give out soon. -getting to the screen with the Heart rate and time of workout takes some doing. You have to push the mode button several times to get there. -the heart rate display itself seems too small for me, and it is at the bottom of the screen, above which are your speed in MPH and your time of workout at the top. -the main LCD display of the watch shows the time, and above it the date. But the strange thing about the date is that it is day/month/year. So for August 13, 2015 it shows... 13. 08.15 This seems odd to me. And it does not show the month. My other watches show these things. I've owned HR monitors by Polar, Garmin and Sportline. I should have known to spend a little more and get these name brands, the best of which so far has been Sportline.

Good for a runner or walker
I just wanted a heart rate monitor for when I'm riding my bike. This one was cheap. It's designed with runners in mind. When used as a regular watch, I find the screen goes blank after a while. Maybe the battery is low. Also, the calendar is European-style and not changeable. I.e., day, month, year.

It quit working in 2 months. Threw away.
New review: I originally gave it 4 stars on the review below. Then the screen failed to function after two months. New batteries in both strap and watch did not revive the watch. So I threw it away. I do not recommend this product even though it suited my needs, “on paper.” Old review: So far this product provides accurate heart rate monitoring. I tested against another hrm and a blood pressure machine. This is the reason I bought it. So that is great. It has a chest strap and watch. A rare combo these days. I can see it on my wrist over clothes while skiing or hiking, or on my handle bar when biking. This is why I chose it over other styles. My primary dislike is that the heart rate readout is small and harder to read than larger numbers would be. Also, for my purposes, it has many features I neither want nor need, which makes it complex to get used to. Of course I have not used any features but the heart rate readout so I do not know how well they work. I recommend this product. I tried a similar chest strap/watch product which simply did not provide a reliable/continuous readout and I plan to return that product.

Great Heartrate Monitor
I purchased this item for the heartrate monitor alone. For the price of $29 it was a great buy to try. I use an UP24 band to track my steps/calories, and I use the MyFitnessPal app to track my caloric intake. The Up band only guesses how many calories you burn in a certain period of time. Since I need to consume the amount of calories I burn for my daily goal, I wanted something that would give me a better idea of what I'm burning during my workouts. I only wear the watch and monitor during weights and cardio. I don't use it for steps or anything else. I was considering a Fitbit Charge HR since it actively monitors your heartrate throughout the day, but I figured this would be a more frugal purchase to get what I need out of it. For a heartrate monitor I think it's doing the job. It's not uncomfortable. The instructions are okay. They could be written better, but I was able to figure out how to use it for what I need it for.

Not sure how accurate the HRM is. I compared ...
Not sure how accurate the HRM is. I compared to a BP cuff and HRM read higher by 5-10 points. Also, it seems to always have 240 as high HR and I am still here breathing. I don't think they know the difference between average and median either, but that isn't too important to me but would be helpful. Also, the programming is confusing, so I just don't use a lot of it's stated capabilities. I did email the company about help on some of the features and, surprise!!, they never got back to me. Also on the service side, the button that resets the watch and HRM fell off after 10 months. I sent it back to the company. Return postage printed on their form is $5.98, They called and left an almost incomprehensible message and wanted $15 to return it. I told them to keep it and then it went to $10. They still have it. It is junk. So if you just want a HRM that is not very accurate, and difficult to program and will last less than a year, get this.

Don't waste your money,
Small viewing area, hard to use, not very accurate for heart rate, (this is a dont buy)

Don't purchase
Don't waste your money on this watch. Batteries only last 2 to 3 weeks of light use. Heart rate won't record if your arms are extended forwards. Watch case broke in 2 places where band joins Watch in exactly the same manner and it was never abused in any way. Emailed my concerns to company weeks ago and no response. Bad product and worse service. I have owned over 6 other fitness watches without issue (I am 70).

So far so good. Accuracy is good
So far so good. Accuracy is good. I have not tried it in a really vigorous exercise, but it behaves normally in not-too-strenuous activities. The manual is so-so: you have to figure out some functions yourself (easier if you already use other heart monitors). Very basic: don't expect you can sync it with other electronic gadgets. Some lettering is quite small ... but I don't care much about all those extra info. I want just a basic monitor. The price is right (for me).
