The bird feeder holds up to 3/4 quarts of bird seed, whether it's Black Oil sunflower seed (a good all-round birdseed) or other seed blends specific to your area. A welcome choice for bird lovers, the squirrel-proof bird feeder attracts a wide variety of clinging and perching birds including American Gold Finches, Chickadees, Hairy Woodpeckers, Cardinals, Indigo Buntings, Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks, White-Breasted Nuthatches, and Purple Finches. SEED SAVER TECHNOLOGY Openings in the bottom section of the metal mesh shroud align with the seed tray, providing birds access to the food. When a squirrel climbs onto the feeder, its weight automatically forces the shroud down, closing access to the seed. Squirrels and some large birds are blocked from accessing the seed, but are not harmed in any way. NEGATIVE GRIP TUBE Even more, the feeder includes a negative grip tube, which prevents squirrels from grabbing the wire hanger with their hind legs, hanging down alongside the feeder, and defeating the closing mechanism. SEED VENTILATION SYSTEM Traditional transparent seed tube designs trap solar energy and block the escape of hot, moist air. The seed ventilation system lets hot and humid air escape through vents at the top of the feeder as fresh air enters the seed ports and openings on the bottom of the seed tube. Birdseed remains fresher and attracts more birds. THE LASTING BEAUTY OF ROXRESIN COMPONENTS Remarkable RoxResin is waterproof, rust proof, dishwasher-safe, and UV stabilized. Because the color is blended into the material itself, RoxResin components show little sign of wear and tear, even after prolonged and repeated exposure to the elements or marauding squirrels. PLACE THE FEEDER ALMOST ANYWHERE Place your feeder just about anywhere--no more worrying about those pesky squirrels. Position the feeder by your deck, in a nearby tree, or over a favorite window for those great close-up views. The bird feeder hangs easily with the use of wall brackets, branch hooks, or extension hooks. Be sure to allow for at least 16 inches (40 cm) of clearance around the feeder. This clearance will prevent a squirrel from reaching over from a nearby foothold to access the seed without placing its weight on the feeder. Forcing the squirrel to climb all the way onto the feeder triggers the closing mechanism, preventing access. SEED TUBE VENTILATION: Transparent seed tubes trap solar energy. Conventional seed tube designs block the escape of the heated air. Our patented Seed Tube Ventilation permits humidity and hot air to escape through vents at the top of the feeder and replaces it with fresh air. Bird food remains fresher, attracting more wild birds. ETACHABLE COMPONENT SYSTEM: designed to be dismantled by hand into individual components without the use of tools. This allows for easy cleaning and maintenance. CHEW PROOF: All feeder parts exposed to squirrels are made with chew proof materials. WEIGHT ADJUSTABLE: Patented weight adjustable spring mechanism controls how much weight the shroud will support allowing the birds to feed. Any additional weight will activate the closing mechanism. FOR BOTH PERCHING & CLINGING BIRDS: The seed ports have perches for perching birds and the wire shroud provides a surface area for clinging birds. This increases your bird traffic. LIFETIME CARE: This is how we support you and our planet. Should you need a part covered under our warranty, we will provide it for free to extend the life of our products, and shipping is on us. The future of the planet must be linked to the vision of products made to last. Please call us for advice or help, a real person will be happy to answer. RECOMMENDED BIRD FOOD: Black oil sunflower or/and safflower seeds. PAYS FOR ITSELF IN SAVED SEED: Squirrels can no longer steal your wild bird seed. Over a short period of time this adds up to substantial savings that will pay for the purchase of your feeder. TRULY SQUIRREL-PROOF: Openings in the shroud align with the feeding ports, providing birds access to the food. When a squirrel climbs onto the feeder, its weight automatically forces the shroud down, closing access to the ports. Squirrels and some large birds are foiled but not harmed in any way. It works!
It got to the point where the squirrels were raiding the feeder as soon as I filled it and stepped back into the house. I looked around and liked the design of the Squirrel Buster Standard best. Only negative is the small perches. I took some stiff coaxial cable, cut it to about a 7.5"-8" ID, and connected the ends together with superglue and heat shrink, then attached it to the perches with small zip-ties. Worked like a charm. All birds big and small visit the feeder, some small Finch to large Northern Cardinal and Woodpeckers. It was comical watching the squirrels trying to raid this feeder, a couple threw a fit, was hilarious to watch. After a couple of weeks though, they calmed down and usually just collect what the birds have dropped. I love this feeder.

Squirrels haven’t figured this one out, yet!
Great color/finish. Holds a tad over one day of seed. Purchased on Feb 14. Probably should have purchased the larger one (~$18 more for 2.6 lbs of seed vs 1.3 lbs, so I’d only have to fill it up every other day. I also purchased the Roamwood Squirrel Proof Wild Bird Feeder (holds more seed). However at some point the squirrel(s) started prying the bottom metal piece down on the Roamwood one in an effort to get to the seed. Smart boogers! There is no baffle on either poles to deter the squirrels. They have not come close to defeating this Broome Squirrel Buster Standard Squirrel-proof feeder and have had no issues with it. Highly recommend this and it’s larger sizes.

really like this feeder
Really a brilliant design. I followed the instructions and hung it with an 18" clearance on all sides and sadly my local squirrels have not tried to leap on to it or climb down to it. "Sadly" because I really want to see them try and fail. It's easy to refill and happily the doves can't land while my local cardinals can and do, which is exactly what I'd hoped for. The doves make out alright cleaning up what falls below the feeder so it's all good.

The squirrels have been busted!
I wanted a bird feeder to entertain an indoor cat. Our neighborhood is full of squirrels, so it had to be safe from pillagers. The Squirrel Buster really works! The design is genius, the outer cage lowers when there's too much weight and closes off access to the bird seed. I mounted it on our back deck railing using the MIXXIDEA Heavy Duty Deck Rail Pole. The pole itself is slippery and intimidating, so plenty of squirrels have abandoned attempts without reaching the feeder. The brave few that have stuck with it and made it to the feeder trigger the cage to lower and have never gotten any seed! You can adjust the tension on the outer cage to also try to prevent larger birds. We tried to prevent blue jays this way with mixed results. At least the squirrels are thwarted! There's a chickadee that's either working for the squirrels or a very picky eater who throws seeds on the ground that they can still get, but the losses are minimal. The cat enjoys watching them feebly forage for seed scraps too.

Finally, something that defeats the squirrels
The media could not be loaded. I have almost a dozen squirrels that used to regularly come and raid my bird feeder. I've seen eight in the yard at the same time. They're even coming from across the street. It used to be there were just one or two and I didn't mind providing bird seed for them, but with this many they monopolize the feeder and the birds don't even get a chance. I tried various ways of coating the seed with capsaicin, which was said to deter the squirrels. It barely even slowed them down. I bought a slingshot and started shooting dried peas at them. I even hit them a few times. They'd just run to the back of the yard, out of range, as soon as I opened the door, but unless I wanted to chase them they'd just wait down there until I went back in the house and they'd be right back at the feeder. A friend pointed me to the Brome Squirrel Buster Pro. It looked good but was quite a bit more than I wanted to spend on yet another "squirrel proof" feeder. The Squirrel Buster Standard seemed a good way to try out the basic design without spending a load of money. The Squirrel Buster Standard appears well designed and constructed of high quality materials. The fit and finish are excellent. Taking it apart to fill it with seed is simple and so is reassembly. What's not obvious in all the pictures is inherent to the design is a stiff metal hanger that's almost as long as the body of the feeder. Be aware of this when planning on a good location for it. So far, it's working exactly as advertised. The feeder is hanging from a shepherd's hook. I had to put the hook in the ground at an angle to keep the feeder far enough away from the shaft that the squirrels couldn't reach over, but it seems sufficiently stable. The squirrels have tried attacking from below, from above, and from the side. They can't reach it from the side and attacks from below or above shut the seed ports so they can't get to the seed. My only little quibble is that the feeder is quite small. I used a 12 oz. glass to fill it and was able to fit just two glasses of seed into it. That makes the capacity exactly as they say, 3/4 quart, or 24 fl. oz. The small size is a plus as far as the squirrels go since it gives them less to hang on to, but it is going to mean filling the feeder more often. I'm coming to this from a huge feeder. Even with a dozen squirrels feasting daily I still only had to fill it every other week. With a lot of bird activity I'm figuring I'll have to fill this one every two or three days. Still, that's a price I'm willing to pay if it keeps the tree rats from pilfering the seed. I've attached a short video of squirrels trying to attack the Squirrel Buster Standard. Mostly it's failed approaches but about halfway through one gets a good grasp and you can clearly see the ports close and his failure at gaining access to the seed. UPDATE: I've had the feeder for about six weeks now. The squirrels have pretty much given up on attacking it. About once a week one will have a go at it, fail miserably, and then return to feeding from what has fallen to the ground. The lack of an easily-accessible squirrel smorgasbord has greatly reduced the number of squirrels frequenting my backyard. The small size of the feeder has proved to be a bit of an issue. If I don't top it off every day I run the risk of it being emptied on the second day. The weather has been quite mild so this hasn't been a huge deal, but I might be thinking otherwise if there was a couple feet of snow on the ground. I've also had a problem with the rather small opening at the bottom of the tube through which the seed passes before getting to the feed tray. The seed mix I bought has some pieces of dried fruit in it and the fruit has gotten stuck in the opening and blocked the flow of seed. It's really an issue of incompatibility of the seed I have with this feeder, not so much a problem with the feeder itself, but it's something of which buyers should be aware. With seed mix like this the feeder may appear full from a distance but no seed is getting to where the birds can get at it. All told I'm still very happy with this purchase. My only regret is that I didn't find this feeder sooner. FURTHER UPDATE: I was happy enough with this purchase that I decided to spring for the big brother, the Squirrel Buster Plus. That one is a lot larger, but also has smaller holes situated a little bit above the feeding tray. The birds have to poke their beaks in a ways to get at the seed and the smaller opening keeps inside the feeder most of the seed that would otherwise be scattered. This brings up a significant flaw with the Squirrel Buster Standard. The feeding ports are too big. The messy eaters scatter seed all over the place. I just put up the Standard next to the Plus that's been hanging up for a couple weeks. In about six hours the birds completely emptied the Standard, most of the seed ending up on the ground. The squirrels don't need to eat right from the feeder, they just sit underneath and graze on the spillage. I'm going to see what I can do about reducing the size of the openings but I'm not hopeful. This feeder does keep the squirrels out but the rate of spillage is such that it almost doesn't matter. The feeder empties just as fast as if the squirrels could eat from it.

Even if a squirrel gets on it they get no seed! I have watched them just give up! So as long as it is hanging from a sturdy hook no worries that ia squirrel can defeat it. This takes the worry out of finding a place to hang it, especially in a small yard. Does everything as described in the wrute up. Very well designed, easy to fill and clean and it keeps the seed completely dry despite deluges and wind. Saving me a lot of money on seed. Everyone but the squurrels are happy but they are welcome to eat what the birdies drop.

Squirrel Buster Bird Feeder is a Win
The Squirrel Buster feeder lives up to its title. Love the fact that you can adjust for size of birds. Love the fact it’s light weight and easy to hang. Love that is has a perfect shape to minimize rain water in seed. The birds love it! Now I need to find a way to keep the suet safe from the squirrels ????️????

SQUIRREL BUSTER STANDARD - OUR SQUIRRELS ARE BUSTED
The media could not be loaded. We live in Eastern Canada and have the smaller red squirrels. They have gone through numerous of our previous feeders ranging from plastic to wooden ones, which they chew right though (if they have to) to get to the seed. I watched a squirrel try to get into our Brome Squirrel Buster. After several attempts the squirrel just gave up and I haven't seen squirrels near it since. I am very happy with this feeder. Here is a youtube video of a squirrel trying to get into our feeder.

Looks about as squirrel-proof as its possible to get
I've been fighting a losing battle to keep squirrels away from the bird seed in the feeders - the problem is that squirrels are quite bright and have found ways around the other so-called squirrel proof feeders I've tried. As far as I can see and after some weeks of use, this feeder really does keep the squirrels away - I can's see how they defeat the spring mechanism which lowers a barrier when they put their weight on the perches. The mechanism can apparently be fine-tuned to stop heavier birds from feeding too, though I don't have this problem. The feeder looks well-made (and so it should be for the price) and its straightforward to clean. All in all it's worth the money to me - song birds are feeding from it regularly and squirrels no longer even try to get the seed.

They are Squirrel proof in my garden !
I have several of these feeders around the garden and the squirrels can not get into them so long as you don't have them near a handy places where the squirrel could reach out to them. They are excellent feeders and the birds love them. They do get messy sometimes so need cleaning from time to time. I fill them with sunflower hearts which the birds love particularly Goldfinches ! My only negative about these feeders are that they are expensive but they do last !!

Squirrel proof
We bought one of these 7 years ago because the squirrels were eating the grain. It worked a treat but my dear wife got carried away with cleaning it and unfortunately broke it. We looked around to see what was available as a replacement but didn't find anything that even came close re a quality/price comparison
