Very handy item

I odder 3 of these to have at different locations. All ready have several and needed more. Car, desk, PC, bed, work shop, etc.. The silver color makes it easier to find in dark. I have other colors ordered. One came with out light switch, which I use as a magnifier w/o light.

Helpful for Baby Boomers' eyes

I've used this brand before at work, and purchased this now that I work from home. Lightweight and easy to hold. Bulbs encircling the glass helps prevent shadows on the target area so you don't have to move your book or papers around on your desk much. 4 stars instead of 5 as it doesn't stand on it's own, but I don't use it for crafts or hobbies where I need both hands free so not an issue for me.

So far no failures with the switch or LED's. I've only used it for a few months. The plastic battery cover that slides on seemed to come off on it's own a few times just by holding the handle. That could be beefed up for a more solid latch. Optics are clear and as described.

Outstanding love it

Wife and I are not yet old and gray but eyesight with smart devices, well not good for the TINY print on various pill bottles, electronic instructions etc. This is by far the best, brightest have seen. Lightweight, good quality, bright with excellent magnification. Love the fact I can use rechargeable batteries, without having to remove tiny screws. Getting old stinks sometimes, this little device sure helps! Great value overall.

Functional and good lighting

It is a little bit heavier on the handle side, but very effective as a magnifier. It is used to play detective and for the globe.

Battery cover is more secure than the inner vault of the Vatican

Unless you have the absolute patience of a saint....do not buy this product. The battery cover is a total summbitch. I couldn't slide it off with my thumbs (im 46 and not some frail old fart). I couldn't pry it off with a butter knife. I ended up hammering it off with the heavy end of the knife and now that the batteries are in, the light is working correctly, i can't get the battery cover all the way back on. It's on enough that i don't have to tape it on, but it's not on correctly. For the price, it was an ok buy. I'm using it for beading craft work. I probably wouldn't buy this one again.

Breaks easily

- Dropped it once (from hand to wood floor) and it broke appart: hmm, not too sturdy. Easy to re-assemble, but definitely not made to last. - Dropped it again later and broke again: grrr, put it back together discouraged - Baby dropped it (he likes looking in it) and broke again, of course: got tired, pulled all the cheap electronics out, then glued it back as a normal cheap magnifier. Conclusion: not worth much, avoid if hoping to use it (as an adult who needs for reading). Anyway the lights are too dim.

The LEDs give a nice even light. I like that you can use standard replaceable batteries (as opposed to a built-in lithium).
