It did work least for now
I bought this same Stens 155-300 elsewhere. Used it on a Predator 173cc vertical shaft engine (clone of GXV160). Rope had gotten to where it wouldnt retract or take forever if it did halfway retract. Got it today and installed it. I truly hate working on plastic crap like all the recoil starters are anymore, even genuine Honda ones. Anyway new spring installed and it retracted the rope. The old spring had signs of rust so assume that was enough to weaken it. I have to say this spring is truly designed minimalist they could get away with and not to last long term. I have run into some pretty good "Honda" springs and some really marginal ones. The heavy duty ones will be springier. There is no rhyme nor reason. Buy genuine Honda for premium price and it still might be the super light duty one. This one somewhere in middle, not best one I have seen, but not the worst. If you use the GX/GXV160 or GC/GCV160 engines or clones, you might want to keep spare spring around, just store it where it wont rust. Ruins your day when you cant start your small engine cause stupid rope wont retract. I wish they sold them by actual quality, so I could spend $10 and be sure to get the heavy duty one. But I buy one at any price and its a crap shoot. Most will least last for a while. Long as engine starts easily, usually even light duty ones last for a while.
