What’s up with the wrong sizes?

I’m not sure what’s really going on. I needed these in a pinch and couldn’t make it to my local children’s place. First of all, I will never order online again as all 4 pants I ordered are sized absolutely wrong. Tell me how a size 14 is smaller than the size 12? What’s really going on? Always order multiple sizes because none of them are correct depending on what country the garment has been made. Not happy with the children’s place at all.
