Solution to unscrewing the lid!

I am happy with the carafe, seems to keep coffee reasonably hot for about 3 hrs. The only real problem was getting a grip on the top! I know you’re not supposed to turn it with the spout, as that would no doubt damage it. So, I bought some rubber shelf liner and cut out a square. It works like a charm! I keep it folded where the carafe is stored . Very inexpensive and effective solution. By the way, my hands are very strong, that’s not the problem. The problem is in the design of the top, check out the questions and reviews! Mary H. Bend OR.
