Worse Quality than Before
These used to be fantastic socks that held together for years. Now they wear out quickly, at the heal and also in terms of general elasticity. I still give them some stars because they are a plain black and are a nice size between super short and super long, but I wish I could go back in time to purchase more, back when Thorlos used to mean quality.

Thorlos quality: not what it used to be.
I purchased four pairs of these in August 2019 for use at work. Every sock now looks like the one in the photo; horrible pilling, threads coming off all over (this began shortly after they were worn for the first time). They were always worn once a week and washed in cold water, on the delicate setting. My Thorlos in the past were not like this. Wondering what happened to Thorlos quality...will not buy these again.

the boot felt comfortable and fitted right
I bought these as an experiment; my usual socks (issued military) are slightly too thick to wear with one pair of boots, and very slightly too thin for another pair (before you ask, different manufacturers of boots, and neither has a size that precisely fit my feet). The obvious solution was to change socks for one, and wear and additional pair for the other. As I do a fair amount of running in boots carrying weight (bergan, aka a rucksack), I needed a solution. So, how do they fare? They are thin enough to be worn as an inner sock with a thicker outer sock, and in this respect work well. Worn with the other - smaller - pair of boots, the boot felt comfortable and fitted right. However, I found the sock too thin in actual use. Whilst I didn't end up with a blister, on a six-miler I did start to develop a couple of hot-spots which would have led to blisters had I gone further. Your mileage may vary, of course. On the plus side, even when worn as a single sock there was no obvious sign of wear, (I find wear after a single use to be an indicator of poor quality material). And I do have a use for them; for general day-to-day wear they are fine! 4 stars from me; give them a try.

Comprate per il cammino di Santiago. Sono partito con 6 paia di calze diverse di 3 marche diverse. Le peggiori delle 3. Le percepivo ruvide a contatto col piede e scivolavano all’interno della scapa. Non mi hanno soddisfatto. C’è di meglio a pare mio!

Exceptionally disappointed.
Deeply disappointed with this order. It arrived on time but the socks aren’t even new. They have clearly been worn, have bits of grass and fluff on them and are not attached the cardboard container. I will be returning immediately and will not order from this provider again.
