My favorite hat
This is my second Tilly Airflo and I like it almost as much as the first one which lasted a long time in spite of heavy use and floating in rivers, bays and three oceans. Although slightly different from the first, the fit is excellent. Lightweight. Great sun protection. Handles rain, too. The venting keeps my head as possible, even on hot humid days. The brim is the right size and stiffness to handle fairly brisk ocean winds without folding or flapping. Besides being functional it is good looking outdoor hat.

Love the hat but it was put together with top, body, and brim all out of line with each other. Drove me crazy. (UPDATED)
I first want to say that this is a 5 star hat except for it seemed like a factory second with regard to construction. I'll deal with the positive first: The hat is exactly what I've been looking for but failed to find in cheaper options. It feels amazingly good, like an old loved hat I've had for years even though it's brand new. That cotton is just amazing. The fit is loose like is recommended by the maker, and that's a good thing. I didn't understand at first, but when I put it on then I understood. It doesn't flop around loosely, but sits there gently. I'm not sure how they do that, but it's really loose and secure at the same time. The straps are the best I've seen in any hat. They're easy and the hat would stay on in tropical storm winds, I'm pretty sure. The brim is adequate and not quite as big as some, and it's firm enough to stay put in wind. That said, the brim doesn't get in the way of my car seat headrest while I'm driving. The brim just sort of conforms back there comfortably and I don't even notice it. The other things like the pocket and water resistance are good as well. So why, you ask, do I rate the hat 3 stars? I tried wearing the hat for a couple of days and it just about drove me crazy the way the top was put on off center to the brim. I thought at first that I could just deal with it because it's so nice in every other way, but I just can't. When I put it on completely straight on my head, then the front and rear top portions where the vent is were off slightly to my right. By "slightly" I mean that the front of the vent would line up with the corner of my eye instead of the center of my nose. The front of the brim where it extends the most and has the most visible lines of stitching is off to the left by about the same amount - lining up with the corner of my left eye. I really did try to tolerate it and thought I could, but after a couple of days I realize it will drive me crazy. A $95 hat should not drive me crazy with a defect in craftsmanship. I do still love everything else about the hat and I also see all the positive reviews so I'm returning this one and ordering a replacement in hopes it will be put together straight. I'm thankful that Amazon has such an easy return process. I will definitely update the star rating accordingly if the replacement hat is better quality. UPDATE: Two days later I now have my replacement hat. It's still not perfect, but the alignment of sections is much better and within my margin of tolerance. I'm still not giving a full 5 stars since it's still not perfect, this shouldn't have happened in the first place, and my Tilley experience hasn't been without hassle. I've also noticed that my review wasn't the only one over several years that spoke of this same quality control issue. I do however think I'll still love the hat going forward, and I'm happy I purchased it. As a side note, this time the hat was shipped by Amazon in only an envelope and stuffed in my mailbox with all the other mail. It took me a while to work out the resulting deformities. C'mon Amazon . You're usually better than that.

It's a Tilley, but...
I was given my first Tilley as a birthday present almost 20 years ago. It was time for a new one. I like the ventilation, and was looking for one made of cotton, rather than nylon that seems to be ubiquitous these days. I had read that the nylon Tilleys were made in China, rather than Canada. I figured if I bought a cotton Tilley it would be made in Canada. Nope. It seems Canada has followed America's lead, and is offshoring their production. As for the hat itself, it's not the cotton duck I was expecting, it's a different weave with 2% spandex for some reason. It still has the dual straps, which I can attest is a good feature. Do yourself a favor and find a Tilley size chart, measure your head, and heed the instructions to add 1-2 cm to your head measurement, then find your size on the chart. Otherwise, you may end up with a hat that's too small.

Size matters
I had a similar product where ‘large’ was a bit tight, but the next size up was too loose. Enter the Tilley graduated sizing. I took a measurement of my head using a piece of paper, and once that was measured out, compared to their size chart. Found out the larger of the two large sizes was what I wanted. Hat is very comfortable to wear. It will also pack flat in a suitcase, ready for use at your destination.

Does the job and looks good as well
It’s light weight, easy to pack and provides real sun protection for my bald head. The best around for active or casual wear.

Tilley T5MO IS Fantastic!
I am not a hat guy, but have to say I love this hat. I got the Tilley T5MO. I used the guidance for sizing, it turned out perfect. Nice, light weight, enough of a rim but not too big. Pretty cool looking and functional.

Great hat, hefty price, but in this case, you get what you pay for.
After having worn only baseball caps over the years (and sweating profusely in the hot months), I purchased an inexpensive brimmed hat over with an airflow feature. Better, but not great (it was nylon). After doing a bunch of research in the quest to save my bald head I discovered Tilley hats. Great product, but much angst over the price of the hat. I went with the T5MO for 3 reasons -- smaller brim (I'm short), Airflow feature, and it's COTTON -- no more nylon! Glad I did. Walked the dogs several times in it on hotter days, and it is the coolest hat I've ever owned. One thing to be aware of , Tilley hats run different size-wise dependent upon the model. I'm a 7 5/8. The T3 in a 7 5/8 was huge, but the T5MO and LT5 were tight in a 7 3/4. Settled on the 7 7/8 and it's perfect. I agree with others saying let the hat fit a bit loose -- it works best that way. Great hat, hefty price, but in this case, you get what you pay for. No regrets. Would buy another but due to the superb quality of the construction, I think it will last me quite a while.

Nice hat very light
I Had a cheap version of this type of hat for many ears, it was always too tight, it had gel in the brim which you could swell by dunking it, it was tighter still, there was no style to it, it was just a round green hat. I had been looking for a better hat for a while and using baseball caps which I find too hot for me not being used to wearing a hat, but need to now in the sun! I spent a little time measuring to try to get the size right I ordered and have to say I got it spot on. The fit is very good so measure your head, this hat is very light, when you put it on, you hardly know its there. It has the tilley quality feel but a quality feel anyhow, as mentioned in the manual you need to be able to get 2 fingers between the brim and your head. I did not get a manual but available online, you also need to register it for warranty. There is a nice style to this hat a slightly narrow side and larger rear brim adds to the quality of this hat, very expensive, but, very nice hat.

Just What My Usband Needed
I bought the hat for my husband and he is very pleased with it. He is at the point where he needs to wear a hat whenever he is out in sunshine, not just during the summer. The hat fits well , is comfortable and gives SPF50 protection. He has sun damage to his forehead so good protection is essential It is an all year round hat and is washable.

Best hat ever!
I love my hat. It’s smart, comfortable, easy to wear. Even leaning back on a high back chair, I can fold up the brim at the back without it being misshapen later. The cord to stop it blowing away is rather long, though it does fold up into the hat if I don’t need it. I might shorten that.
