Good but flawed .. silicone handle grips will fail

They seem sturdy and look and feel good. Similar to another one (different brand) I purchased 3 yrs ago here on Amz. Had to buy a new one because the silicon non-slip strips on the handles started to tear and lift up. The silicone grips have 'tabs' that insert through the metal handles to hold them in place, but they are thin, weak, and soft, so eventually, they'll tear. Hopefully this one will last longer but I'm not optimistic .. I'll just have to try to be more careful. I'm knocking one star off for this flaw in the design. The grips could be a bit more robust so they won't tear.

Great for camping!

Bought these to go along with my portable stove. Very easy to pack and just as easy to clean. Worked great.

Get a firm grip on frying foods

Easy to use, clean. I initially bought the long tongs and found they are much too big for use indoors.

The coating had chipped off in only a few uses

Good price but they didn’t hold up well for me, I’ll continue to use them, part of the corner is just showing bare stainless steel now. I wonder where that piece ended up…

Good small size.

I like that it's silicone and heat resistant. I like the size for smaller pans. The only minor thing, is I that I wish the edge was a little thinner. It's hard to pick up thin food.

Versatile Tongs For Everyday Use

I stumbled upon these tongs a few years ago and to this day are my main tongs to use. — SILICONE FLAT HEAD — One of the main selling points for me is the silicone flat heads. They are heat resistant to 600° F so I don't have to worry about it melting when picking up hot things. (However, you should never leave any silicone lying on a hot surface; they will be fine for quick pickups but will likely melt when left on a heated surface for an extended time.) The silicone is also great for picking things up on non-stick cookware; you don't have to worry about scratching your pans like metal tongs would do. The flat head picks up nearly everything, and the flat heads ensure that your items is sandwiched in securely with because of the extra surface area. — SILICONE GRIPS — The silicone on the grips can wear down over time and fall off. Even it that happens you can remove the silicone and it doesn't affect holding it. I bought a replacement after my tongs went missing and removed the grips anyway so that it would be light enough to hang on a magnet on my fridge. — LOCKING MECHANISM — A circular pull at the end will lock the tongs closed. A push and it opens up. It's easy to use and doesn't accidentally lock/unlock while picking up things. — SUMMARY — This is my go-to tongs. It's cute, highly versatile for many uses, and the right price. Recommended.

Petro-chemical odor.

06/18/20 Update: The gray colored tong's horrific odor has finally disappated to the point that it is barely noticeable, but it is still there nevertheless. I'm increasing to four stars from my original two star rating. I would've given five stars if the seller/Tovolo would've reached out to me to offer solutions to this smell issue. No contact was ever initiated by Tovolo. Based on this lack of caring, I will more than likely not purchase a Tovolo product again. We received our order for the three Tovelo Multi-Colored Mini Tongs. All three tons seem to be fairly sturdy, though the locking mechanism seems to be a thin, flimsy piece of metal, which can be problem down the road as not lasting long. The reason I'm giving only two stars currently is that the gray colored tongs have a very off-putting, strong smell similar to either Lifesaver's Wint-o-Green flavor or kerosene. I have tried using Dawn Original dishwashing soap several times, plain white distilled vinegar and Odo-Ban in an attempt to eliminate the odor. So far, no success. I'm going to air this pair of tongs out for 24 hours before I contact either Amazon or the seller to see how we can resolve this issue.

Smaller than expected, but excellent quality

This set was a bit smaller than I expected... my own fault for not checking a ruler before I purchased! But the quality is great and I've had no issues using it to replace my old one (which was 11" long and a cheapo from a discount kitchen store.) It works exactly as I need it to and resists heat well. I would definitely buy this again- but maybe in the larger size next time, just for the few times I reach into the stove to flip food rather than take out the tray.

Look nice; do the job

Silicon tongs are great in specific cooking situations (turning noodles, picking items out of sauces, etc.), but still can't outdo a good spatula for much turning in a hot pan, in my view. They take more space on a serving dish than a good fork and spoon set and can't turn many things as well as a fork when cooking. A good help in the kitchen, but not for everything. I would recommend for those who love cooking.

Do the job

Great for cooking and serving, especially in situations where there is lots of heat. Many dishes can be best served with a good fork and a fork and spoon set...and take less room on the serving dish.
