Very comfortable but there’s a pocket issue
These are very comfortable and lightweight. The various pockets are roomy and well placed. The cargo pockets are a little “baggy” looking even when empty. The knife/flashlight pockets are great to have and are well placed and easy to access even sitting down. The reason I took away a star is that the regular front pockets seem to lack retention and things keep falling out when I’m sitting in my recliner. This might be somewhat expected seeing as how I’m half lying down when the recliner is reclined all the way, however this doesn’t happen with my Tru-Spec 24/7 pants or shorts (or with regular jeans or shorts) in that same chair.

Good pants, but a different fit from the original pants
I was looking for new shorts to replace my original classic shorts. These shorts are a good compromise. If you don't carry a lot of stuff and don't try to carry a backup concealed carry, these pants will work fine. PRO: A long pocket behind each of the cargo pockets. The pocket is large enough for a newer cell phone. Good construction, although the material is thinner. The knife/utility pockets are handy. Wide belt loops to allow a decent gun belt. CON: The loss of inner pockets inside of the cargo pockets. I miss this feature to carry spare magazines. (AR and pistol) The loss of the small utility pocket outside of the cargo pockets. Cargo pockets are held shut with one velcro attachment point. Cargo and back pockets are no longer expandable with side pleats held by velcro.

Very good quality shorts
I’m a big fan of Tru-spec gear. Always top quality. Never been disappointed yet. These are great shorts. I really like this material. It’s a little different than the usual ripstop material. A bit more comfortable with a cottony softness to it. True Ranger green color. Just the right amount of pockets. Fit is perfect. I like this length. Not so long that it looks like I’m wearing capris and not so short that I look like I’m trying to pretend that I’m not a middle age man. lol Excellent shorts. I’ll be buying more colors. I recommend Thanks for reading

Top notch shorts!
Great shorts. Well made. I like all the features they have and do not bind when squatting. Bought tan and olive drab and colors were spot on. The fit is great but I bought the size 40 as I measured my waist and it was a 40ish. The elastic flexibility built into the waist is awesome so the shorts fit well. I boughy another pair in size 38 and they fit better for me but don't feel too snug. Personally i would but a size smaller but ymmv. The only thing I would give a negative about is the pleating on the side cargo pockets lend to getting snagged on lower cupboard door knobs or walking through brush. Not enough of a negative to take away a star. Would definitely recommend and will buy again.

Fashionable and tough
These are great for versatile wear, have the utility but remain professional (as professional as shorts can be). I read reviews asking that the pockets be more like the other version, I have the other version and don’t like the bulkiness of them. If you like that, just order the other version, problem solved. I salute them for having this more fashionable version!

Enough pockets, finally !!!
Great pants for me, I love the extra pockets, especially the Knife and Phone pockets. The cargo pockets I use occasionally. As a kid I could have been called "Pockets" Because they were always full. I fill all the pockets every trip, it is so nice to have two Knife pockets, one for Knife and the other for pills. I use the phone pocket for a phone and a water bottle, great for the motorcycle, although I have a rubber cover for the iPhone and I put a rubber band on the Knife. The pockets are slippery. It would be nice if they could add some "Vulcanizing" to the pockets to hold things better. Dislike: That I didn't buy these years ago. Fit is good, for me, and the material is nice.

Perfect Hiking Shorts
I love these shorts! The fit is perfect with just enough room and “give” to be exceptionally comfortable. The pocket layout works great with today’s larger phones and the two knife/tool pockets will give your larger pocket knives, such as a Benchmade Griptillian, plenty of room to easily get them in and out of the pockets. Durability, like all Tru-Spec products is outstanding. I have a year old pair of the Ascent Pants that are my go to weekend hiking pants and they still look brand new. I didn’t think I would ever find a pant and short I liked more than the Tru-Spec 24-7’s, but I have.

Awesome shorts
I am excited that Tru-spec started making a shorts version of their Ascent pants, which I have been wearing for years. The shorts have the same great features: Slip pockets behind the side cargo pockets that swallow full-sized modern phones (Galaxy S9 in a slim case); knife/mulitool slip pockets between front and rear pockets; bellowed cargo pockets that lie flat when not in use, but have tons of room; a nice material that is stretchy but tough. As I mentioned, I have been wearing the pants for over two years now and they are hardly showing any signs of wear. I highly recommend these.
